Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Werkka Easterlund (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Waits (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Easterlund comes into the arena with Harbinger of Sorrow blaring out of the sound system. Waits has chosen What A Waste as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waits swings for the body but Easterlund moves out of range.
Easterlund misses with a takedown attempt - Waits sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Easterlund changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Easterlund scores with a head kick. Waits tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Werkka Easterlund seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Waits lands a really nice looking cross but Easterlund seems unphased.

Easterlund on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
We've been informed that Waits has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Waits stuns Easterlund with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Easterlund seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Waits rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Easterlund moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Waits feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Easterlund's calf.

Waits buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Waits has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Easterlund.
Waits tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Easterlund was well out of range. Poor timing from Waits.
Waits throws a nice looking combination but Easterlund bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Waits displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Easterlund.
Waits misses with a low kick as Easterlund jumps back.
Waits is looking to clinch but Easterlund is avoiding it.
Easterlund shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Waits forces Easterlund back against the ropes and clinches.
Waits scores with a knee to the head.

Easterlund tries to score a body lock takedown but Waits shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Werkka Easterlund. That's going to take a lot out of him.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Easterlund wants to stand and escape but instead Waits has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Easterlund manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the ropes.
Easterlund is trying to pull guard but Waits turns him against the ropes and we stay in the clinch.
Waits throws a knee to the head but misses.
Easterlund tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Easterlund jumps guard but Waits turns him against the ropes and keeps the fight standing.
Waits looking to throw knees to the head but Easterlund is blocking nicely.
Easterlund takes a shot to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Waits tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Easterlund avoids it.

Easterlund jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Waits walks away with a smile on his face. Easterlund gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Easterlund tries to move into range but Waits moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.


Easterlund is rocked!
Waits lands with a big right hook that stumbles Easterlund - he's out on his feet here! Waits follows up with another monster hook that separates Easterlund from consciousness! Easterlund falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Waits stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tom Waits!
