Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gustav Grimwald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Sharkhausen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grimwald kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is NoMeansNo - Mr. In Between. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gustav Grimwald! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Sharkhausen! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sharkhausen misses with a lunging right hand
and Grimwald counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sharkhausen's knee momentarily. Sharkhausen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sharkhausen scores with a jab to the body. Grimwald moves out of range of the strikes. Sharkhausen throws the kick towards the body but Grimwald avoids it. Grimwald dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sharkhausen. That did some damage! Sharkhausen scores with a jab to the head.
A left lands for Sharkhausen. Sharkhausen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Grimwald swats him away and circles back towards the center. Grimwald drives through and clinches with Sharkhausen against the cage.
Grimwald stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sharkhausen wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. A head punch on the inside from Sharkhausen fails to land. Grimwald's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Sharkhausen is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Sharkhausen prevents a body shot from Grimwald. Sharkhausen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Grimwald is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Sharkhausen misses with a hook. Grimwald rushes Sharkhausen and presses him up against the cage. Sharkhausen misses with a punch on the inside.
Grimwald scores with a nice hook to the head. A shot in the inside from Grimwald. Sharkhausen throws a punch but it's blocked by Grimwald. Sharkhausen trying to stall but Grimwald improves his position.
Sharkhausen tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Grimwald avoids it. Grimwald pushes Sharkhausen back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Sharkhausen tries to break the clinch but Grimwald is controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Grimwald works on Sharkhausen's body with a couple of short punches. Sharkhausen misses with a knee to the head. A quick uppercut on the inside from Grimwald. Sharkhausen has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Grimwald seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Sharkhausen can turn it around. Grimwald lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Sharkhausen. Grimwald works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Still in the clinch, Grimwald scores with a nice short uppercut. Sharkhausen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Grimwald has him pressed against the cage. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Sharkhausen just misses with a elbow thrown towards Grimwald's brow. Grimwald pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Grimwald shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Decent striking displayed by Grimwald there. Grimwald throws a leg kick that is checked and Sharkhausen counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Grimwald gets in close and instigates a clinch. Grimwald breaks from the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sharkhausen misses with a looping right. Grimwald steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sharkhausen. Sharkhausen doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Grimwald tries to bum rush Sharkhausen with a series of wild strikes but Sharkhausen uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Sharkhausen throws a nice outside leg kick. Sharkhausen throws a sloppy head kick and Grimwald moves out of range easily. Sharkhausen is looking to clinch. Sharkhausen lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Nice uppercut lands for Sharkhausen. That snapped Grimwald's head back.
Sharkhausen misses with an uppercut. Grimwald saw that one coming. Sharkhausen closes the distance but Grimwald moves to the side and Grimwald connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sharkhausen throws a series of punches but Grimwald moves out of range. Grimwald cracks Sharkhausen with a right hand to the side of the head. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sharkhausen throws a right and a left that Grimwald avoids nicely. Grimwald misses with a few strikes there.
Sharkhausen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Sharkhausen gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Sharkhausen is rocked! Grimwald misses with a leg kick. Grimwald looks to land a combination but Sharkhausen avoids it well. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Grimwald bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Sharkhausen jabbing away but nothing is landing. Max Sharkhausen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Grimwald ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Gustav Grimwald will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Sharkhausen tries to clinch up. Sharkhausen throws the left hand but Grimwald avoids the punch easily. Grimwald throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sharkhausen. Grimwald shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Grimwald working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Grimwald pushing down on Sharkhausen's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Grimwald controlling the pace. Sharkhausen tries to kick Grimwald off but Grimwald keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Grimwald controlling the action here. Grimwald landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grimwald working Sharkhausen over with strikes. Grimwald looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Sharkhausen wants to get back to full guard. Sharkhausen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Grimwald's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Grimwald's back! Grimwald is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Seventh House, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Sharkhausen has the hooks in. Grimwald is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Grimwald surviving as best he can, preventing damage. Grimwald manages to reverse the position and now he's in Sharkhausen's guard. Nice work there by Grimwald.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sharkhausen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Grimwald wants to control from the top but Sharkhausen keeps moving. Grimwald works a leg free and moves into half guard. Grimwald passes to full mount! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Grimwald cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Grimwald lands a big elbow. Grimwald has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Grimwald is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Sharkhausen goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Grimwald!

Gustav Grimwald seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website. Max Sharkhausen spoke after the fight, saying 'Fuck this.'.
