The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gillespie pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gillespie moves in looking to clinch but McGillivary pushes him off.
McGillivary shoots in for a double leg but Gillespie sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gillespie closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. McGillivary did well to prevent Gillespie getting side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Gillespie wants to work for an arm triangle but McGillivary is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Gillespie has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

McGillivary is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gillespie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gillespie's back!

McGillivary has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Gillespie is on him like a limpet, forcing McGillivary back against the cage.
McGillivary is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Gillespie can't fight it off and eventually McGillivary manages to take the fight to the floor. Gillespie looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gillespie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McGillivary gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
McGillivary lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Gillespie down.
