0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Mauritus! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Fedor Mirinova and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mauritus avoids the body shot from Martin.
Mauritus misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Martin seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Mauritus walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Martin lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Mauritus changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Martin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Martin is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Mauritus working away. Mauritus taking a break here but Martin is having none of it and regains half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mauritus is trying to control the action in half guard but Martin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mauritus throwing shots but Martin is blocking nicely. Martin keeps control of the position for the meantime. Mauritus prevents Martin from improving his position. Martin is not content to let Mauritus control the position. Mauritus is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
John Mauritus has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Mauritus drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Martin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mauritus is looking to take a break and control but Martin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mauritus scores with a couple of short elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mauritus working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Martin manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Martin is trying to control the action in half guard but Mauritus is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mauritus is looking for a sweep. Martin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Martin wants to take a breather but Mauritus is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but John Mauritus will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Mauritus misses with a body punch
and Martin makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Martin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mauritus steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Martin. A looping hook to the body misses from Mauritus. Martin does a little dance to reset his feet. A right-left combo lands from Martin. Martin scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Mauritus is rocked! Martin moves out of range of the strikes. Mauritus is still on wobbly legs! Can Martin finish him? Mauritus fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Martin manages to avoid it. Martin digs a good body shot into Mauritus's ribs. Mauritus seems to have recovered his senses. Martin dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Martin connects with a body shot. Martin connects with the punch. Martin just misses with a punch to the body.

Mauritus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mauritus throws an elbow that misses. Martin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mauritus's guard. Nice move by Martin! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mauritus pushes Martin off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Martin scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Mauritus scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Martin lands with a nice body punch. Martin is looking to wear down Mauritus with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Martin misses with a looping right. Trevon Martin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mauritus fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Martin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Martin dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Martin shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mauritus eats them both and turns towards Martin to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Martin scores with a crisp jab that stopped Mauritus in his tracks. Mauritus misses with a looping left. Mauritus misses with a takedown and Martin counters with a nice body shot. Mauritus throws a sloppy body shot
and Mauritus takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Mauritus has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Martin finds it's way round the side to connect with Mauritus's head. Mauritus keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mauritus has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Martin. This has been an exciting period of action! Trevon Martin dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Mauritus thows a body shot but no joy. Martin lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Mauritus closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Martin lands with a good body shot. Martin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mauritus. Mauritus misses with a wild body shot. Martin throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Martin smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Mauritus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Martin was well out of range. Poor timing from Mauritus. Mauritus darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Mauritus sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Martin defending well though.

We're going to have a standup here because Trevon Martin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Martin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Mauritus at a distance.

Martin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Martin wants it to stay on the feet. Trevon Martin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Mauritus. Martin throws a right and a left that both miss. Martin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mauritus looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Mauritus shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mauritus showed some decent athleticism there. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mauritus connects with a nice short shot to Martin's temple.
And that's the end of the fight! Trevon Martin showed his dominance in that final round. I think Martin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
