Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Danny Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Charlie Meyers! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown throws a shot from downtown. Meyers moves away and avoids it. Meyers lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brown circles away quickly and effectively. Meyers drives through with a takedown into Brown's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Meyers trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom. Meyers postures up in Brown's guard and throws a big left but Brown blocks it. Meyers looking to sit in guard and control but Brown gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Meyers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Meyers throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Brown got a little sloppy there for a moment and Meyers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brown has managed to get both his arms back between Meyers's legs - danger averted. Brown pushing down on Meyers's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meyers is trying to control but can't.
Brown slows the pace down in half guard. Brown trying to advance position but Meyers counters by regaining guard. Brown seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Meyers throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Meyers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brown doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brown manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Meyers is trying to keep Brown in close.
Meyers looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Brown is defending well. Meyers quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Brown has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Meyers celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
