Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Frederick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Kowalski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kowalski has chosen Harvey - Get up and move as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Frederick! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 2, fighting out of London, Shawn Kowalski! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frederick shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kowalski as he avoids it easily. A jab lands there for Kowalski. Nice sprawl there from Kowalski as Frederick shoots in. Frederick darts in and clinches Kowalski up against the cage. Kowalski prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Frederick. That's going to take a lot out of him. Frederick goes for a takedown attempt but Kowalski pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Frederick looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Kowalski tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Frederick swivels and escapes. Kowalski throws a series of punches but Frederick moves out of range. Frederick is looking to clinch. Frederick looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Kowalski! Frederick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kowalski keeps working. Frederick is breathing heavily. Kowalski is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kowalski is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Frederick cracks Kowalski with an elbow. That is naaassty. Kowalski is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Frederick asserts his dominance and retains side control. Kowalski manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Frederick lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Frederick is keen to just control but Kowalski is a slippery customer. Frederick is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kowalski is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Kowalski wants to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kowalski is not content to let Frederick control the position. Kowalski gets back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Frederick loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Frederick stops Kowalski from standing up. Kowalski is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Kowalski is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Frederick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. This has been an exciting period of action! Frederick trying to hold on to Kowalski's head to control him but Kowalski postures up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kowalski tries to pass to full mount but Frederick defends it. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kowalski thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Frederick wants to sweep but Kowalski has passed to side control! You can see the frustration on Frederick's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Kowalski tries to score with some ground and pound. Frederick controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Kowalski has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Frederick looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Kowalski has Frederick pulled in close to control his posture. Kowalski wants to get back to his feet but Frederick is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Kowalski has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Frederick is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Frederick is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kowalski gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Kowalski tries to pull guard but Frederick holds him up against the cage and eventually Kowalski drops back down to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kowalski breaks from the clinch.
Frederick tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kowalski paws at him with a jab and circles away. Frederick tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Frederick darts in trying to clinch and Kowalski counters by moving into the clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Frederick goes for a takedown attempt but Kowalski pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

A close round but Shawn Kowalski will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Frederick tries to clinch up. Kowalski rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Frederick moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Kowalski's coach down at Tycoon Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kowalski's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. No luck for Frederick with that takedown attempt. Frederick shoots in but no luck this time. Kowalski shoots for a takedown but Frederick saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Frederick tries to close the distance and clinch but Kowalski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Kowalski gets a clinch. Frederick drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kowalski gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kowalski has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Frederick uses from the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kowalski is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Frederick is aware though and is defending well. Frederick looking to sit in guard and control but Kowalski gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Frederick wants to sweep but no luck. Kowalski tries to stand but Frederick is controlling from the bottom. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Frederick looking for a sweep. Not yet Frederick, not yet. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kowalski accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Frederick is working an open guard so Kowalski takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Frederick throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kowalski's waist but Kowalski gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Frederick off to one side. Kowalski tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Frederick manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Frederick closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kowalski circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kowalski fails in his attempt to clinch. Frederick avoids the head kick by Kowalski.

Paul Frederick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Frederick is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kowalski has taken the fight to the clinch.

They are putting on a show! Frederick tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kowalski paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kowalski connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Frederick momentarily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Frederick on the wrong end of a nice hook. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kowalski is defended easily by Frederick. Horrible takedown by Frederick or perhaps it was just good defense by Kowalski which made him look bad. Kowalski scores with a one two! Frederick had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Frederick defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kowalski. Frederick dives in for a single leg takedown but Kowalski sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Kowalski is trying to pull guard but Frederick turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Kowalski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Frederick tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Kowalski counters with a three punch combo that has Frederick backing up. Frederick nods at Kowalski to acknowledge the strikes. Frederick tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kowalski manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Frederick closes the distance and clinches up with Kowalski, looking for a takedown. Frederick pushes Kowalski against the cage but Kowalski circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Frederick fails in his attempt to clinch. Kowalski has a takedown stuffed. Kowalski fails with a takedown attempt from distance. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Frederick tries to clinch but fails miserably and Kowalski counters with a series of strikes. Frederick will be more careful next time no doubt. Frederick misses with a series of wild punches.
Kowalski shoots for a double leg takedown but Frederick sprawls well. He's pushed Kowalski's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shawn Kowalski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Frederick shoots in for a takedown but Kowalski shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Frederick changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kowalski tries to avoid it but Frederick manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kowalski to the ground. Kowalski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kowalski gets a clinch. Frederick goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kowalski prevents it.

That's one minute gone in the round. No luck for Frederick with that takedown attempt. Kowalski scores with a one two! Frederick had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Kowalski rushes Frederick and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Kowalski breaks from the clinch.
Kowalski stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kowalski wants it to stay on the feet. Frederick circles away from the clinch attempt.

Kowalski gets a double leg takedown into Frederick's guard. Frederick is trying to control the position but Kowalski postures up. Kowalski decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Frederick, up you get! Kowalski shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Frederick eats them both and turns towards Kowalski to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kowalski works over Frederick's head and body with a nice combination. Frederick tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kowalski swats him away and circles back towards the center. Kowalski lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kowalski. Kowalski attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Kowalski gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Frederick tries to score a body lock takedown but Kowalski shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Frederick takes a shot to the head. Kowalski is defending well against a takedown attempt. Kowalski successfully pulls guard.
Frederick won't allow Kowalski to sweep him here. Frederick throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Frederick stopping the sweep attempt from Kowalski. Kowalski can't keep his opponent in guard - Frederick advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Kowalski kicks off Frederick and gets to his feet. Frederick will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Kowalski fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Kowalski looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Frederick fails to land the takedown. Kowalski throws a series of punches but Frederick avoids them all with ease. Paul Frederick has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Frederick tries to clinch up but Kowalski circles away and keeps his distance. Horrible takedown by Frederick or perhaps it was just good defense by Kowalski which made him look bad. A bone on bone clash there as Frederick blocks the leg kick.
Kowalski goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Kowalski throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Frederick looks for a takedown but Kowalski sprawls well. Kowalski scores to the head and body with a nice combination! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Frederick misses with a combination
and Kowalski counters with a lovely straight right hand!
And that's the end of the fight! Shawn Kowalski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Kowalski has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
