Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Gavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Winston Wyrm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wyrm has chosen Don't Tread by Damn Yankees as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Gavin! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Winston Wyrm! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Columbo Gatti and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wyrm tries to clinch there but Gavin circles away.
Wyrm fails with an attempt to clinch.
A big right from Gavin misses. Gavin throws a nice outside leg kick. Gavin swings away with a leg kick that misses. Gavin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wyrm manages to avoid it. Wyrm rushes Gavin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. We've been informed that Wyrm has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Gavin tries to break the clinch but Wyrm is controlling the position. Wyrm has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Gavin is trying to keep an underhook but Wyrm manages to get the takedown into half guard. Gavin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Wyrm throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Wyrm not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Wyrm seems to be working for a kimura but Gavin defends the submission attempt. Gavin is holding on to half guard well. This has been an exciting period of action! Wyrm prevents Gavin from improving his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wyrm thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gavin's head. Wyrm is keen to just control but Gavin is a slippery customer. We've been hearing good reports from Gavin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Wyrm working the head and body with strikes. Gavin tries to get to full guard but Wyrm has control of the leg. Gavin manages to get to full guard.
Gavin controls Wyrm momentarily but Wyrm frees himself. Wyrm passes Gavin's left leg - he's now in half guard. Wyrm is working for a kimura but Gavin is defending it quite comfortably.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wyrm scoring with strikes to the body and head. Gavin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Gavin is adopting a defensive guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wyrm throwing strikes but missing. Wyrm working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Gavin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gavin holds on and takes a little breather. Wyrm drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wyrm jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Wyrm has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Wyrm with a nice head shot there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wyrm throwing strikes but missing. Wyrm stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Gavin throws up his legs and catches Wyrm in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Wyrm tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Gavin! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Tommy Gavin! Tommy Gavin retains his featherweight title! A very excited looking Tommy Gavin made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
