Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jack Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Courchesne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Courchesne comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Lux Aeterna By Clint Mansell kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonathan Courchesne! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Courchesne shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Woods takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Woods has been working on his boxing with his coaches at CCF's Flying Circus in the buildup to the fight. Nice sprawl there from Courchesne as Woods shoots in. Courchesne throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Woods was covering up waiting for the punch and Courchesne finishes the takedown easily into guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Courchesne trying to control but Woods is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Woods wants to sweep here but Courchesne controlling him for the moment. Woods avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Courchesne stands up over Woods, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Courchesne scoring with some ground and pound. Courchesne is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Courchesne content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Woods bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Courchesne's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Courchesne is on top in guard.
Woods is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Courchesne is aware though and is defending well. Courchesne postures up.
My spies in Gym Elite Transition and Escape inform me that Courchesne has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Woods bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Courchesne's guard. Courchesne wants to sweep here but Woods controlling him for the moment. Woods postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Courchesne is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Woods might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Woods lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Courchesne! Courchesne avoids a series of strikes thrown by Woods.
Courchesne is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Courchesne is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Courchesne is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position. Woods is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Courchesne is surviving well by controlling Woods's body position as best he can.

Woods swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Courchesne is now in Woods's guard. A big mistake from Woods there, giving up the dominant position! Woods looking to sweep here. No luck so far. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Woods working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Courchesne. Courchesne wants to pass the guard but Woods is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jonathan Courchesne dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Courchesne shoots in looking for a takedown. Woods tries to sprawl out of it but Courchesne keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Woods manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Courchesne takes a kick to the side of the head. Woods decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Woods is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Courchesne has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Woods is working away from the top position though. Woods wants to control but Courchesne is keeping him busy. Courchesne won't allow Woods to pass to mount. Woods is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Courchesne is doing well to control the position and prevent Woods from advancing to side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Courchesne is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Courchesne trying to hold on to Woods's head to control him but Woods postures up.
Woods wants to work for an arm triangle but Courchesne is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Courchesne is trying to get back to full guard. Courchesne is concentrating on defense, preventing Woods from advancing position. Woods looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Courchesne is staying active underneath Woods, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Courchesne lands strikes to the head. Courchesne has the hooks in. Woods is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Courchesne really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Woods. Woods is trying to remain composed but Courchesne is hammering down strikes to the side of his head. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Woods rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

And that's the end of the fight! Jonathan Courchesne comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Courchesne has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
