Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Spishak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jynkka Levanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spishak's entrance music is Sleeping with Sirens. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sammy Spishak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jynkka Levanen! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spishak closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Spishak lands in his opponent's guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Spishak preventing the sweep. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Spishak trying to control the position from guard on top but Levanen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Levanen trying to keep a closed guard but Spishak is proving a slippery customer.
Spishak throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Levanen works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Spishak wants to control from the top but Levanen keeps moving.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Sammy Spishak. Spishak misses with an uppercut. Levanen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Levanen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Spishak. No luck for Levanen with that takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spishak scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Levanen on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Spishak takes a swing at Levanen's ribcage but misses. Sloppy strikes from Spishak. Those never looked like landing. Levanen fails with the takedown and Spishak cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Sammy Spishak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jynkka Levanen. Levanen misses with a double jab.
Spishak has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Levanen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Spishak to the ground. Levanen is now in Spishak's guard. Spishak looking to hit a scissor sweep but Levanen is one step ahead there. Spishak keeping moving, preventing Levanen from controlling successfully.

Spishak is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Spishak not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Levanen trying to control but Spishak is working from the bottom. Levanen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Spishak is keeping the position for now. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Levanen with a hook. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Levanen is defended easily by Spishak. Levanen waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Spishak. Spishak throws a series of punches but Levanen avoids them all with ease. Levanen looks for a takedown but Spishak sprawls well. Spishak shoots in and gets a takedown into Levanen's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Levanen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Levanen keeping moving, preventing Spishak from controlling successfully. Spishak is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Levanen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Levanen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Spishak. Spishak distracts Levanen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Levanen wants to sweep but no luck. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Levanen throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spishak stands and throws Levanen's legs to the side, diving into side control. Spishak tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Spishak has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Levanen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Spishak is not content to let Levanen control the position. Spishak trying to hold on to Levanen's head to control him but Levanen postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Levanen misses with a takedown attempt and Spishak counters with a one-two to the body. Levanen goes for a double leg but Spishak avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Spishak continues to drive forward. Levanen gets underhooks to prevent Spishak's takedown attempt.
Spishak is trying to break the clinch but Levanen is controlling him. Spishak wants to break free but Levanen has control.
Spishak breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Spishak jabs at Levanen's body. Spishak looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Levanen shoots in and gets a takedown into Spishak's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Spishak gets to his feet - Levanen follows without any prompting. Decent striking displayed by Spishak there. Sammy Spishak is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Nice uppercut there from Spishak. Spishak drives through with a takedown into Levanen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors!
