Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Mills!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Lamas!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mills misses with a body kick.
Lamas lands with a nice body kick.
Lamas has his takedown stuffed

and Mills counters by clinching up.
Mills's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Mills jumps into guard, dragging Lamas to the mat.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Lamas won't allow Mills to sweep him here.
Mills keeping full guard, as Lamas tries to pass.
Lamas wants to control from the top but Mills keeps moving.

Mills is pulling down on Lamas's head. It's preventing any offense from Lamas, at least for the moment.

Mills on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mills tries to get out of the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Steve Mills.

Mills looking to score a takedown here. Lamas is defending well but Mills drives through and ends up in Lamas's guard.

Lamas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mills closes the distance and clinches up with Lamas, looking for a takedown. Mills pushes Lamas against the cage but Lamas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lamas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mills tried to score with a low kick but Lamas checks it.
Lamas bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Mills loads up on a big right hand but Lamas slips the punch.
Mills circles away from the clinch attempt.

Mills closes the distance and clinches.

Mills has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Lamas uses from the top position.

Mills escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lamas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mills tries to advance to mount but Lamas denies him.

Mills stands up and beckons Lamas to his feet.

Mills drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Mills tries to stand but Lamas controls the position and pulls Mills into his guard.
Lamas tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Lamas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Steve Mills overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mills wants to improve his position but Lamas is controlling well.
Mills is trying to maintain the position but Lamas is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Mills counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Lamas is trying to hold Mills in close to prevent damage but Mills has managed to pass into half guard.

Mills lands with a punch from half guard.
Mills is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Mills working over Lamas with some ground and pound. Lamas looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Mills stands up out of the half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lamas checks a low kick from Mills.
Lamas connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Lamas tries for a takedown but Mills sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lamas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mills throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Mills fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lamas sprawls well initially but Mills persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mills is working for a submission of some sort.

Mills working the head and body with strikes.
Mills is nestled in close to Lamas, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Mills works his way into side control.
Lamas is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Mills is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lamas tries to reverse the position but Mills maintains control.

A nice elbow there by Mills.
Lamas is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Mills has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lamas's face.
Mills looking to finish Lamas with some ground and pound. This is bad for Lamas!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
