Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Luis Chalas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edit Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chalas comes to the cage accompanied by Chubby Jag-U.O.E.N.O. Luis Chalas has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edit Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chalas misses with a head kick.
Johnson fails with a takedown attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Chalas tries to stand but Johnson is controlling from the bottom.

Johnson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Chalas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Chalas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Chalas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chalas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Johnson has a closed guard, preventing Chalas from standing up.

Chalas drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Johnson dives on top into guard.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chalas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Chalas's legs - danger averted.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson works to advance to full mount. Chalas defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Chalas catches Johnson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

That was a close round but Luis Chalas did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.

Well Chalas has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
