Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, You Lose! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Weidman! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Weidman tries for a takedown but Lose circles away easily and Lose decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Weidman's guard. Weidman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lose gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lose is looking to work some ground and pound but Weidman has wrist control. Lose throws an elbow that misses. Weidman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lose's guard. Nice move by Weidman! Weidman stopping the sweep attempt from Lose. Lose wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lose looking to hit a scissor sweep but Weidman is one step ahead there. Weidman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lose is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lose wants to sweep here but Weidman controlling him for the moment. Lose working a defensive guard here.
Lose has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lose wants to sweep here but Weidman controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
You Lose has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Weidman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lose sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Weidman somewhat. Weidman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lose paws at him with a jab and circles away. Weidman darts in looking for a takedown but Lose gets double underhooks and turns Weidman into the cage. You Lose has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Weidman. Weidman jumps guard and drags Lose to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Lose is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Lose slips nicely into half guard. Lose wants to advance to full mount but Weidman doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Lose throws a big right hand that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Weidman keeping full guard, as Lose tries to pass. Lose has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Weidman is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lose trying to control the position from guard on top but Weidman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lose postures up in Weidman's guard and throws a big left but Weidman blocks it. Lose is looking to work some ground and pound but Weidman has wrist control. Lose trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Weidman is trying to keep Lose in close.
Lose scoring with some ground and pound. Lose landing some decent shots from guard. Weidman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lose tries to free his leg and advance position but Weidman is retaining full guard. Weidman is trying to control the position but Lose postures up. Lose lands a couple of digs. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lose throwing strikes from guard but Weidman blocks nicely. Lose scoring with punches to the head and body. Lose trying to control but Weidman is working from the bottom. Lose trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Weidman manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back. Lose manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Weidman manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
You Lose dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Weidman rushes Lose and presses him up against the cage. Lose drops down looking for an ankle pick but Weidman pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lose tries to work over Weidman's front leg with a kick but Weidman checks it. Weidman is looking to clinch but Lose is avoiding it.
Weidman with a poor takedown and Lose counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Weidman's guard now.
Weidman is rocked! Lose passes Weidman's left leg - he's now in half guard. Weidman makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Weidman. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lose trying to control but Weidman is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lose tries to free his leg and advance position but Weidman is retaining full guard. Lose distracts Weidman with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Weidman is still in real trouble! Can Lose finish him? Lose working some strikes from top position. Lose postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Lose arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Weidman's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). You Lose! In his post fight interview, You Lose started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
