Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Walker! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anthony Showtime! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Showtime fails in his attempt to clinch. Anthony Showtime seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Showtime throws a head kick that misses. Walker shoots in looking for a takedown but Showtime manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Showtime tries to clinch but Walker moves out of range. Showtime misses with the body kick and Walker moves into the clinch. Showtime has had enough of the clinch but Walker keeps him there for the moment. Walker blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. I was talking to Walker's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Showtime gets underhooks to prevent Walker's takedown attempt.
Walker manages to pull guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Walker manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Showtime really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Walker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Showtime wants to hold on but Walker pushes him away. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Showtime can do anything to dispel that myth. Walker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Showtime is looking to escape. Walker is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker has isolated one of Showtime's arms. Showtime looking to fight him off but Walker twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
