Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edwin Langley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirko Lukic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edwin Langley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mirko Lukic!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Langley closes the distance and clinches up with Lukic, looking for a takedown. Langley pushes Lukic against the cage but Lukic circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Oooooh!!! Langley has knocked Lukic down with a huge combo! Langley steps away and waves a wobbly Lukic back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Lukic is rocked!


It looks like Mirko Lukic has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Lukic gets caught napping as Langley dives in and scores a takedown. Lukic manages to retain guard.
Lukic is still in real trouble! Can Langley finish him?
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Langley trying to control but Lukic is working from the bottom.
Lukic seems to have recovered his senses.
Lukic not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Lukic working for a triangle but Langley defends it easily.
Langley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lukic swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Langley looking to sit in guard and control but Lukic gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Langley has control of Lukic's left arm, preventing Lukic from doing any damage.
Lukic pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Langley is keeping the position for now.
Langley has a closed guard, preventing Lukic from standing up.
Langley wants to sweep but no luck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Langley pulls Lukic in close to prevent any damage.
Lukic postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Edwin Langley just wasn't active enough.
Lukic shoots and misses

and Langley counters by clinching up.
Langley throws an elbow but it misses.
Lukic tries for a takedown. No joy.

Langley breaks the clinch.

and Lukic counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lukic drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Langley dives on top into guard.
Lukic looks winded!

Langley throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Langley missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Lukic controls Langley momentarily but Langley frees himself.
Langley wants to control from the top but Lukic keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lukic pulls Langley in close to his closed guard and prevents Langley from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Edwin Langley wasn't doing enough on the ground.

and Lukic takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Edwin Langley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mirko Lukic.

Langley manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lukic on his heels. He'll look to pass Lukic's guard now, I'm sure.
Langley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Lukic can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Langley controls the pace.
Langley's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Lukic is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Edwin Langley.
Langley tries to clinch up but Lukic circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Langley throws a wild body kick that Lukic sees coming a mile off.

Lukic throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Langley tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lukic is in Langley's guard.

Lukic drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Langley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lukic has Langley in his guard.
Lukic wants to get back to his feet but Langley is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Langley trying to control the position from guard on top but Lukic is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Langley passes Lukic's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Lukic is breathing heavily.

Lukic is not content to let Langley control the position.
Langley is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Edwin Langley has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Lukic is letting Langley control him for a moment.

Lukic is trying to buck Langley off.
Langley is looking to take a break and control but Lukic is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because Edwin Langley wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Langley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lukic defends it well.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Langley paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Langley cracks Lukic with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Langley changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lukic looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Lukic can't do much from the bottom here.
Edwin Langley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Langley tries to advance to mount but can't.

Lukic takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Langley prevents Lukic from escaping the position.

Langley swings around for an armbar but Lukic sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Langley's guard.

Langley tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Langley has his hands on Lukic's head, controlling the position.
Langley manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lukic manages to get himself to full guard.

Lukic is trying to control the position but Langley postures up.

Langley has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Langley shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lukic is trying to defend but Langley finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Lukic is staying active underneath Langley, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Lukic has his hands clasped together around Langley's back. He's all about the action.

Langley feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well Langley has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
