Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dennis Markakis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Baki Hanma! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Markakis fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Hanma changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Markakis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hanma decides to stand back up. Hanma doesn't succeed with the takedown and Markakis counters by clinching up. Markakis is trying to break free. Markakis is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hanma is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Markakis to the mat. Markakis regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Hanma stands and throws Markakis's legs to the side, diving into side control. Hanma advances nicely into full mount. Hanma lands a heavy elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hanma cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hanma swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Markakis is now in Hanma's guard. A big mistake from Hanma there, giving up the dominant position! Hanma throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round. Markakis is in close to Hanma's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hanma not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hanma looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Markakis content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Hanma has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hanma keeping full guard, as Markakis tries to pass. Markakis wants to control from the top but Hanma keeps moving. Hanma looking to control.

Hanma is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hanma has his foot on Markakis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Markakis works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Markakis tries to free his leg and advance position but Hanma is retaining full guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Hanma is looking to sinch up a triangle. Markakis throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hanma's body to avoid the submission. Hanma has instead reached around Markakis's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hanma arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
