Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cody Harlow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cody Harlow has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cody Harlow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eddie Dean!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harlow clinches.
Dean wants to break free but Harlow has control.
Harlow looking for a takedown.
Harlow goes for a takedown attempt but Dean pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dean throws a series of punches but Harlow avoids them all with ease.
A punch combination from Dean misses.
A combination from Dean does no damage.
Harlow throws a looping overhand right but Dean ducks down to avoid it.
Dean displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Harlow feints and as Dean raises his hands in defense, Harlow changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dean looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Harlow is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Harlow trying to control but Dean is working from the bottom.
Dean wants to stand and escape but Harlow is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harlow advances position into side control!
Harlow has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Harlow works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Dean is trying to buck Harlow off.

Harlow is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dean has escaped the position, nice work there.

Harlow working over Dean with some ground and pound. Dean looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Harlow wants to control but Dean is keeping him busy.
Harlow throws a strike but Dean avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Harlow wants to pass the guard but Dean is keeping the position.
Harlow is breathing heavily.
Harlow landing with the ground and pound.

Dean manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Harlow manages to get himself to full guard.

Harlow had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Dean is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Harlow Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Dean's back instead.
Harlow tries to get the hooks in deep but Dean pushed the leg off.

Harlow has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Harlow is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Dean has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Dean tries to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cody Harlow dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dean misses with a double jab.

Harlow shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dean's guard.
Harlow scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Harlow is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Harlow wants to pass the guard but Dean is keeping the position.
Dean looking to control.

Harlow is really struggling to control Dean but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Harlow will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Harlow drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Harlow controls the position.

Harlow swings around for an armbar but Dean sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Harlow's guard.

Dean gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Dean stuffs the takedown attempt from Harlow. Harlow gets slowly back to his feet.

Harlow gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Harlow lands a nice short elbow.

Dean is trying to stand.
Dean manages to get to full guard.
Dean looking for a sweep. Not yet Dean, not yet.
Harlow slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Dean is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Harlow tries to break the clinch but Dean is controlling the position.

Harlow drags the fight down to the ground.

Dean thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Harlow tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dean would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Dean is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Harlow keeping moving, preventing Dean from controlling successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Harlow closes the distance and clinches up with Dean, looking for a takedown. Harlow pushes Dean against the cage but Dean circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cody Harlow. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Harlow shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dean as he avoids it easily.
Cody Harlow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Harlow has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Harlow scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Harlow is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dean defends it well.

Harlow is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dean is just riding it out for now. Harlow eventually gives up the hold.

Dean is refusing to be controlled, as Harlow sits in half guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Harlow seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dean for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Harlow looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Harlow seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Dean trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Harlow is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Dean has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Harlow controlling from the full mount.
Harlow won't let Dean get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Dean really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Harlow forces the positional change into back control.
Dean biding his time here by controlling the hands, looking to escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Harlow is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Dean defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Dean tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Dean turns into Harlow and is now in his guard.
Harlow keeping moving, preventing Dean from controlling successfully.
Cody Harlow overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Harlow has a closed guard, preventing Dean from standing up.
Dean trying to control but Harlow is working from the bottom.
Harlow has control of Dean's left arm, preventing Dean from doing any damage.
Harlow looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dean is one step ahead there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dean scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Harlow doesn't seem bothered though.

Harlow bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Dean stops Harlow from passing to mount.
Harlow advances nicely into full mount.

Harlow working for a submission but Dean is keeping him at bay.
Dean is trying desperately to improve position.
Dean bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

And that's the end of the fight!
Cody Harlow showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Harlow, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
