Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Bloggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brendan Merlo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Bloggs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Brendan Merlo! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bloggs moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Merlo avoids the head kick by Bloggs.
Bloggs scores with a spinning back kick! Bloggs gets the takedown into side control. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Bloggs with the ground and pound but Merlo regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Bloggs wants to lay and pray for a moment but Merlo keeps working. Bloggs trying to mount his opponent but Merlo defends it. Bloggs is just content to waste time from the top position. Merlo takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Merlo has a closed guard, preventing Bloggs from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bloggs trying to control but Merlo is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bloggs looking to sit in guard and control but Merlo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Merlo trying to control but Bloggs is working from the bottom. Bloggs is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Merlo dives into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Merlo is looking to take a break and control but Bloggs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Bloggs is looking for a sweep. Merlo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Merlo working away. Bloggs is trying to buck Merlo off. A lull in the action here. Bloggs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Merlo on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bloggs is trying to buck Merlo off. Merlo lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Bloggs wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Merlo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bloggs keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Bloggs dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Merlo goes for a double leg but Bloggs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bloggs continues to drive forward. Merlo crunches a lovely knee into Bloggs's ribcage. Merlo tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Merlo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Bloggs lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Bloggs swings for the body but Merlo moves out of range.
Merlo shoots in but Bloggs avoids the takedown attempt easily. Bloggs stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bloggs wants it to stay on the feet. Joe Bloggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brendan Merlo. Bloggs throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Joe Bloggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Merlo tries to keep at a distance but Bloggs has taken the fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Merlo lands a nice elbow. A frustrated look appears on Bloggs's face as he tries to break the clinch. Bloggs jumps guard but Merlo stands there with Bloggs around his waist. Bloggs gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bloggs jumps guard but Merlo turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Bloggs is trying to break the clinch but Merlo is controlling him. Bloggs wants to break free but Merlo has control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Bloggs is pushing Merlo up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Merlo misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bloggs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Merlo lands a good knee to the midsection. Bloggs won't want to take too many of those. Merlo trying to control the position but instead, Bloggs has worked for underhooks and has pushed Merlo into the cage. Bloggs wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Merlo has him pressed against the cage. Merlo lands a damaging elbow. Bloggs tries to break the clinch but Merlo is controlling the position. Merlo with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Bloggs with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Merlo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Some wild striking there from Bloggs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Merlo moves into range and clinches up with Bloggs. Merlo tries to land a knee to the head but Bloggs blocks with his arms.
Merlo unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bloggs lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Merlo tries to break the clinch but Bloggs is controlling the position. Bloggs letting Merlo take a breather here. Bloggs fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Merlo will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Bloggs up against the cage. Merlo putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Bloggs in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Merlo tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Merlo creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Bloggs's defenses. Merlo crunches a lovely knee into Bloggs's ribcage. Merlo gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Merlo crunches a lovely knee into Bloggs's ribcage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A knee to the head by Merlo.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bloggs manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Merlo passes into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brendan Merlo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Bloggs is looking to take this one to the mat. Bloggs pulls guard. Bloggs is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Merlo dives into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Merlo misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's one minute gone in the round. Merlo decides to stand back up. A punch combination from Bloggs misses. Bloggs fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Merlo to the ground. Bloggs is now in Merlo's guard. Merlo has control of Bloggs's left arm, preventing Bloggs from doing any damage. Merlo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bloggs's guard. Bloggs keeping moving, preventing Merlo from controlling successfully. Bloggs wants to control but Merlo passes easily into half guard.
Bloggs on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bloggs tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Merlo content to control rather than advance. Merlo wants to work for an arm triangle but Bloggs is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Bloggs wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Merlo looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Merlo is keen to just control but Bloggs is a slippery customer.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Brendan Merlo was stalling too much, according to the referee. Bloggs thows a body shot but no joy. Bloggs fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bloggs tries to close the distance and clinch but Merlo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Bloggs swinging wildly here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Merlo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Bloggs fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bloggs rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Merlo moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Merlo fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Merlo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bloggs as he jumps to the side. Joe Bloggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brendan Merlo. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Merlo tries a low kick but Bloggs avoids it.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Brendan Merlo. I think Merlo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Brendan Merlo! A very excited looking Brendan Merlo rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
