Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Lewis! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ethan Lurch! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lewis clinches up against the cage. Lurch is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Lewis is defending well. Lurch pulls Lewis into guard.
Lewis trying to control the position from guard on top but Lurch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lewis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lurch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lewis has managed to get both his arms back between Lurch's legs - danger averted. Lurch wants to sweep but no luck. Lurch is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lewis is aware though and is defending well. Lewis trying to control the position from guard on top but Lurch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lewis is pushing down on Lurch's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lurch is fighting to maintain full guard but Lewis has managed to sneak the leg through. Lurch moves into full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lurch wants to get back to full guard. Lewis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Lewis wants to control the pace but Lurch is squirming around nicely. Lurch keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Lewis avoids the attempt from Lurch to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lurch is squirming around, avoiding Lewis's attempts to control the action.
Mark Lewis has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Lurch shoots in looking for a takedown but Lewis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lurch's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Lewis lands with a nice combination. Lurch backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Ethan Lurch has been cut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lewis dives in and grabs Lurch's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lurch pushes down on Lewis's head and hops out. Lurch shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lewis napping and manages to drive through into side control! Lewis struggling a bit here. Lurch lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Lewis down.

That's four minutes gone in the round. It looks like Lurch might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Lewis is not content to let Lurch control the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ethan Lurch wasn't active enough on the ground. Lewis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. We've been told by Lewis's head coaches at Tenacity Elite - Best Value/Elite Trainers that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Lurch throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lewis's waist but Lewis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lurch off to one side. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mark Lewis will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Ethan Lurch's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Lewis clinches up against the cage. Lurch has Lewis pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Lurch pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Lewis tumbling to the mat - Lurch dives into Lewis's guard. Lewis has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lurch is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Lewis. Lewis sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Lurch prevents Lewis from improving his position. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lurch lands a nice short elbow. Lurch controlling the action here. Lurch thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lurch is taking a breather. Lewis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Lurch is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Lewis tries to roll over but Lurch keeps him under control. Lewis is staying active underneath Lurch, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Lewis on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Ethan Lurch has got the better of the ground game so far. Lurch tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lewis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Lewis tries to roll over but Lurch keeps him under control. Lurch is working for a kimura but Lewis is defending it quite comfortably.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lurch wants to pass the guard but Lewis is defending well. Lewis flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Lurch throwing shots but Lewis is blocking nicely. Lurch is working for a submission of some sort.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Lurch trying to control from half guard but Lewis is working away. Lewis is looking to improve his position.
Lurch is keen to just control but Lewis is a slippery customer. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ethan Lurch was stalling too much, according to the referee. Lurch shoots and misses and Lewis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lewis. Lurch is working for takedown but Lewis is calmly controlling the position for now. Lurch decides to pull guard. Lurch is trying to keep Lewis in close.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lurch is looking to cinch up a triangle. Lewis throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Lurch's body to avoid the submission. Lurch has instead reached around Lewis's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Lurch arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ethan Lurch! Ethan Lurch is the new welterweight champion! Ethan Lurch decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
