Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Columbus Clay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andrew John Anderson! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Anderson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Clay to the mat! Clay manages to get full guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Anderson throwing strikes but missing. Anderson prevents Clay from getting back to his feet. Clay thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Anderson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Clay controls Anderson momentarily but Anderson frees himself. Clay can't keep his opponent in guard - Anderson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Anderson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Anderson looking for a submission but Clay manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Clay really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Anderson distracts Clay with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's one minute gone in the round. Clay working a defensive guard here.
Anderson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Anderson looking to pass the guard. Clay is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anderson defends well. Anderson tries to stand but Clay is controlling from the bottom. Clay knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Anderson on the ground. Anderson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson wants to pass the guard but Clay is keeping the position. Anderson tries to stand but Clay is controlling from the bottom. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Anderson scoring with punches to the head and body. Clay trying to keep a closed guard but Anderson is proving a slippery customer.
Anderson trying to control but Clay is working from the bottom. Anderson has gone for a leg lock! Clay slips out almost immediately though and dives into Anderson's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Clay is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Anderson has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Clay is looking to defend but Anderson has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Clay! Anderson pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Clay taps out and this one is all over!
