Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luke Hobbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oliver Rechsteiner!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hobbs closes the distance but Rechsteiner moves to the side

and Rechsteiner counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rechsteiner.

Rechsteiner pulls guard successfully.
Rechsteiner pulls Hobbs in close to prevent any damage.
Rechsteiner wants to get back to his feet but Hobbs passes into half guard.

Hobbs moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Rechsteiner.
Hobbs wants to control but Rechsteiner is keeping him busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rechsteiner can't do much from the bottom here.
Hobbs tries to stand but Rechsteiner is controlling his head.
Rechsteiner is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rechsteiner is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rechsteiner sneaks back into half guard.

Rechsteiner tries to roll over but Hobbs keeps him under control.
Hobbs is thwarting Rechsteiner's attempts to control the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Luke Hobbs has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Hobbs moves to clinch but Rechsteiner breaks away
and Rechsteiner counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Hobbs closes the distance looking to clinch
and Rechsteiner counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Rechsteiner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rechsteiner tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Rechsteiner is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Hobbs reverses the position - he's now on top in Rechsteiner's guard.
Hobbs is fighting to break Rechsteiner's control of his arms but Rechsteiner is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oliver Rechsteiner dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A chopping leg kick lands by Rechsteiner.
Hobbs wants to clinch.

Luke Hobbs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hobbs tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Rechsteiner counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rechsteiner.
Rechsteiner is looking to break free of the clinch but Hobbs has double underhooks.
Still in the clinch, Hobbs scores with a nice short uppercut.
Hobbs misses with a short punch on the inside.

Rechsteiner pulls guard effortlessly.

Rechsteiner has his foot on Hobbs's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hobbs works his way back into a safe position though.
Rechsteiner seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Hobbs slips nicely into half guard.
Rechsteiner wants to control the action here but instead Hobbs manages to pass to full mount!
Rechsteiner is trying desperately to improve position.
Rechsteiner reaches up to try and control the position but Hobbs seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Rechsteiner rolls and tries to escape and now Hobbs has his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rechsteiner wants to escape the position.
Rechsteiner prevents Hobbs from getting a body triangle.
Hobbs keeps control of the position easily here as Rechsteiner tries to buck him off.
Rechsteiner is trying to break free.

Rechsteiner trying to control the position but Hobbs manages to sink in the hooks.
Rechsteiner has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Rechsteiner wants to escape the position.
Hobbs not allowing Rechsteiner to control his hands.
Rechsteiner breaks Hobbs's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Hobbs is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

We're going to have a standup here because Luke Hobbs wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Hobbs is looking to clinch.
Rechsteiner avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hobbs tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rechsteiner manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hobbs tries to clinch but Rechsteiner moves out of range.
Rechsteiner swats away the attempt to clinch by Hobbs.

Hobbs gets tackled into the cage by Rechsteiner. Rechsteiner maintains the clinch.
Hobbs tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Rechsteiner avoids it.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Rechsteiner pulls Hobbs into guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hobbs is stalling in the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Oliver Rechsteiner will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Hobbs's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Rechsteiner shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hobbs napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Hobbs regains half guard there - taking advantage of Rechsteiner's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Oliver Rechsteiner has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rechsteiner is looking to take a break and control but Hobbs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hobbs is defending against the submission attempts here by Rechsteiner.

Hobbs is staying active underneath Rechsteiner, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Rechsteiner throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hobbs to regain full guard.

Hobbs is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Rechsteiner trying to move into half guard but instead Hobbs has managed to sweep!

and Rechsteiner counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rechsteiner.
Rechsteiner blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Rechsteiner lands a nice uppercut.
Hobbs has a couple of punches blocked by Rechsteiner.

Rechsteiner is still trying to improve position.

Rechsteiner looking for subs off his back but Hobbs has passed one foot through into half guard.
Luke Hobbs has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rechsteiner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Oliver Rechsteiner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rechsteiner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
