Lucas is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Techno Viking . Takahiro Akiyoshi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Draven Lucas!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyoshi throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Lucas counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Akiyoshi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lucas quickly recovers to half guard.
Lucas is staying active underneath Akiyoshi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Akiyoshi wants to free his trapped foot but Lucas is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Lucas tries to roll over but Akiyoshi keeps him under control.
The fighters are battling for position here. Lucas manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Let's hope that Lucas has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Draven Lucas wasn't active enough on the ground.
Lucas throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Akiyoshi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lucas was well out of range. Poor timing from Akiyoshi.

and Lucas counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Lucas shoots for a double leg takedown but Akiyoshi sprawls well. He's pushed Lucas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lucas wants to clinch up but Akiyoshi keeps it at a distance.

Lucas uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Akiyoshi.

and Lucas holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Draven Lucas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Akiyoshi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Akiyoshi throws a right hand that Lucas ducks under and follows up with a left that Lucas also avoids with ease.
Lucas fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Akiyoshi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lucas dodges the punch combination from Akiyoshi.
Akiyoshi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Lucas slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Lucas working his ground and pound in the gym.

Lucas has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Akiyoshi!

We're going to have a standup here because Takahiro Akiyoshi wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Akiyoshi has Lucas pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Akiyoshi pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Lucas tumbling to the mat - Akiyoshi dives into Lucas's guard.
Lucas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Akiyoshi throws a strike but Lucas rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Draven Lucas is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lucas wants to control from the top but Akiyoshi keeps moving.

Draven Lucas has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Well Lucas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
