Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joe Schilling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cave Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schilling comes to the cage accompanied by Roy Jones - Can't be touched. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Schilling!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cave Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, David Schapiro and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a hook

and Schilling counters with a takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The strikes coming from Schilling are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Schilling has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Johnson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Schilling off and has taken his back!
You can see the frustration on Schilling's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Schilling manages to reverse the position and now he's in Johnson's guard. Nice work there by Schilling.

We've been hearing good reports from Schilling's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Schilling postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Johnson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Schilling, into his guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Schilling is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Schilling is trying to keep Johnson in close.

Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Schilling gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Schilling is fighting to break Johnson's control of his arms but Johnson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Schilling slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schilling thows a huge punch but Johnson dodges it nicely.
Johnson is looking for a sweep. Schilling is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Johnson has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Schilling is pushing down on Johnson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Johnson is fighting to maintain full guard but Schilling has managed to sneak the leg through.

Schilling tries to pass the half guard into mount. Johnson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schilling is looking to pass Johnson's guard but actually Johnson recovers to full guard.
Schilling wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.

Schilling is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Schilling is looking to work some ground and pound but Johnson has wrist control.

Johnson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Schilling is one step ahead there.

Johnson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Schilling pushes down on Johnson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Schilling wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnson wants to get back to full guard but Schilling has mounted him!
Johnson tries to hold on but Schilling pushes him away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Johnson feints and then cracks Schilling's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Schilling down.
Schilling tests Johnson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Johnson takes a swing at Schilling's ribcage but misses.
Johnson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Johnson tries to bum rush Schilling with a series of wild strikes but Schilling uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Johnson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Schilling sizes up Johnson with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Johnson misses with a straight right.
Schilling uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Johnson has time to react.
Schilling is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Schilling throws a poor cross that misses
and Johnson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Schilling looks to land a left hand but Johnson moved out of range nicely.
Johnson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Schilling.

Schilling lands a jab to the nose.
Johnson scores with a punch to the head.
Schilling moves out of range of the body kick.
Johnson on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Johnson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Schilling checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Schilling loads up on a big right hand but Johnson slips the punch.
Schilling darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Johnson scores with a hook to the body. Schilling takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Johnson looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Schilling tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Johnson was well out of range. Poor timing from Schilling.
Schilling rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Johnson counters with a slapping leg kick.
Schilling bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Schilling fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Johnson on the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A looping hook to the body misses from Schilling. Johnson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Schilling takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
That kick from Johnson tenderised Schilling's leg. Schilling is trying to keep his angry face on.
Johnson tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Schilling ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johnson moves away.

Schilling drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Schilling tries for a kimura but Johnson is defending well.
Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Schilling wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Schilling tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Schilling has hold of Johnson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Johnson seems comfortable defending it but Schilling has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Johnson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Johnson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Schilling couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joe Schilling!
After winning the bout, Joe Schilling thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
