Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Myles Sheppard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ty Plate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Myles Sheppard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ty Plate! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Plate avoids the head kick by Sheppard.
Sheppard tries a low kick but Plate avoids it. Sheppard decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Plate looking for a kimura from the bottom but Sheppard passes into side control! The referee asks Sheppard politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sheppard prefers to stall for the moment though. Plate is trying to improve his position. Sheppard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Sheppard tries for a kimura but Plate is defending well. Plate is trying to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sheppard tries to stand but Plate is controlling his head. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Plate can do anything to dispel that myth. Sheppard advances to mount. Sheppard content just to control the position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sheppard seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Plate for as long as he can get away with. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Plate is in all sorts of trouble here.
Sheppard raining down shots from the mount! Plate wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Sheppard jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Plate manages to avoid the submission attempt. Plate wants to control but Sheppard postures up. Plate regains half guard there - taking advantage of Sheppard's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Sheppard is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Plate to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Plate shrugs it off. Plate really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sheppard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sheppard lands a couple of good shots and Plate has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Plate looking very determined here, making life difficult for Sheppard.
Sheppard is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Sheppard is hanging on to Plate's back as he tries to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Plate trying to control the action but Sheppard just sinks the hooks in. Sheppard has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Plate has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Sheppard shoots in and bounces Plate off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Sheppard trying to control but Plate is working from the bottom. Plate is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Sheppard preventing the sweep. Sheppard with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Sheppard is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Sheppard dives in and scores a takedown into Plate's guard. Sheppard tries to stand but Plate is controlling from the bottom.

Plate tries to kick Sheppard off but Sheppard keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Plate is breathing heavily. Sheppard is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sheppard decides to stand up. Myles Sheppard is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sheppard. Sheppard clinches up with Plate and pushes him back against the cage. Sheppard's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Sheppard dives in and grabs Plate's left leg, looking for a takedown. Plate pushes down on Sheppard's head and hops out. Plate throws a low kick but Sheppard avoids it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Plate keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Myles Sheppard. That's going to take a lot out of him. Plate scores with a jab to the head.
It looks like Myles Sheppard has been cut. Sheppard wants to clinch. A head kick misses from Sheppard. Plate fails to land the takedown. Plate shoots in looking for a takedown but Sheppard manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Plate's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sheppard tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Plate paws at him with a jab and circles away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Myles Sheppard dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Myles Sheppard's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Plate misses with a takedown letting Sheppard counter with a right hand. Plate feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Sheppard's calf. Sheppard tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Plate paws at him with a jab and circles away. Sheppard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Plate but Plate pushes him off and we're back to square one. Plate wants to clinch. Sheppard tries to clinch up. Plate feints and as Sheppard raises his hands in defense, Plate changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Sheppard throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Plate escapes and throws Sheppard's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Sheppard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Plate trying to control the action but Sheppard is working from the bottom. Sheppard is looking to reverse the position. Plate trying to control the position but Sheppard is working away. Plate wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sheppard, who protects the arm well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Sheppard's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Plate tries to advance to mount but Sheppard instead regains half guard. Sheppard is looking to improve his position.

Plate trying to control the position from guard on top but Sheppard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sheppard lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Plate! Sheppard working for a submission but Plate is keeping him at bay.
