Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Colton Frederick! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Polish! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frederick shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Polish as he avoids it easily. Frederick wants to clinch up but Polish keeps it at a distance. Colton Frederick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Frederick shoots in but Polish avoids the takedown attempt easily. Frederick gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Polish counters with a two punch combo. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Colton Frederick. That's going to take a lot out of him. Frederick doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Frederick throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Polish was covering up waiting for the punch and Frederick finishes the takedown easily into guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Polish looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round. Frederick won't allow Polish to get back to his feet. Frederick looking to sit in guard and control but Polish gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Polish gets to his feet - Frederick follows without any prompting. Polish fails with a takedown attempt. Frederick fails with the takedown and Polish finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Polish lands a nice looking kick to the body. Frederick takes a step back to recover. Polish closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Polish lands in his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Frederick not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Polish is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Frederick is pulling down on Polish's head to control his posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Polish trying to control but Frederick is working from the bottom. Frederick not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Colton Frederick. Polish lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Frederick slips a jab and a cross from Polish.
Polish avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Frederick looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Polish is fending him off so far but Frederick persists. Nope, Polish circles away and we're back to standing. We've been informed that Polish has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Polish stuffs the takedown. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Frederick. Frederick is breathing heavily. Polish stalks Frederick and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Frederick's face. Frederick staggers backwards, shaken. Frederick tries to clinch there but Polish circles away.
Polish decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Polish is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Polish wants to pass the guard but Frederick is defending well. Polish decides to stand and escape the position. Some wild striking there from Polish.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Polish takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Polish dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Polish shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Frederick sprawls well. Frederick wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Polish gets slowly back to his feet. Frederick tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Polish decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Frederick's guard. Frederick has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Frederick lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Polish! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Frederick looking to control but Polish is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Polish tries to hold on but Frederick postures up. Polish is trying to escape the mount.
Frederick wants to stand but Polish is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Polish really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Frederick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Polish is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Polish is squirming around, avoiding Frederick's attempts to control the action. Frederick tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Polish tries to improve his position but Frederick has taken his back! Frederick has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Polish tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Frederick pushes Polish away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Colton Frederick! The defeated James Polish had this to say: 'Come Back stronger like a new nail.'.
