Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michel Boyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Caisse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michel Boyd has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michel Boyd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Caisse!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyd avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Caisse fails with a takedown attempt.
Caisse misses with the combination.
Caisse misses with a head kick.
Boyd misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Caisse gets caught flat footed, as Boyd shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Caisse looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Caisse is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Boyd won't allow Caisse to get back to his feet.
Boyd is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Michel Boyd wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Boyd looks to land a combination but Caisse avoids it well.
Boyd stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Boyd wants it to stay on the feet.
Caisse tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Boyd manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Caisse can't break the clinch.
Caisse lands with a right to the head.

Caisse breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Boyd dives in and grabs Caisse's left leg, looking for a takedown. Caisse pushes down on Boyd's head and hops out.

Boyd closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Caisse quickly recovers to half guard.

Caisse is looking to escape.

Caisse looks winded!

Boyd will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Boyd looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Caisse can do anything to dispel that myth.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boyd working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Boyd lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boyd breaks from Caisse's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Boyd content just to control the position here.
Caisse wants to hold on but Boyd pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boyd takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Caisse fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Boyd avoids the head kick by Caisse.
Boyd tries a head kick but it misses.

Boyd drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee asks Boyd politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Boyd prefers to stall for the moment though.
Boyd wants to stand but Caisse has his arm trapped.
Boyd happy to just control the position for now.

Boyd tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Boyd has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Boyd tries for a kimura but Caisse is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Caisse's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boyd is looking to take a break and control but Caisse is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Caisse is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Caisse tries to kick Boyd off but Boyd keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Boyd tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Boyd looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Still in half guard, Boyd seems content to control.
Caisse trying to control here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Boyd rushes Caisse and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Caisse is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Caisse pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Boyd breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Boyd darts in looking for a takedown but Caisse gets double underhooks and turns Boyd into the cage.
Boyd stalling in the clinch but Caisse improves position.

Caisse drags the fight down to the ground.
Caisse is looking to sweep but instead, Boyd has passed into half guard.
Boyd not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Boyd stops Caisse from getting back to his feet.
Michel Boyd overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Caisse is breathing heavily.
Boyd trying to control the pace.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Boyd shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Caisse sprawls well. Caisse wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Boyd gets slowly back to his feet.

Caisse looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Caisse keeps the fight on the outside.
Boyd shoots for a double leg takedown but Caisse sprawls well. He's pushed Boyd's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Boyd closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Caisse to the mat! Caisse manages to get full guard.
Boyd wants to control from the top but Caisse keeps moving.

Caisse controls Boyd momentarily but Boyd frees himself.
Boyd is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Boyd wants to get up but he can't break Caisse's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Boyd is stalling in the full guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Michel Boyd wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Caisse has taken the fight to the clinch.
Caisse tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Boyd just stands there and leans against the cage.
Boyd has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Caisse lands a hook to the side of the head.
Caisse is trying to break free.
Caisse tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Caisse takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Boyd throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Caisse blocks it with crossed arms.
Boyd has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Boyd has had enough of the clinch but Caisse keeps him there for the moment.
Boyd goes for a takedown attempt but Caisse pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michel Boyd. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Caisse fails with an attempt to clinch.

Caisse paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Boyd takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Caisse scores with a shot to the body.
Jean Caisse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Caisse gets the takedown into side control.
Caisse wants to control but Boyd is keeping him busy.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Caisse decides to stand up, so the ref orders Boyd to his feet.

Caisse moves into the clinch.
Caisse wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Boyd has him pressed against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Boyd's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Caisse trying to control the position but instead, Boyd has worked for underhooks and has pushed Caisse into the cage.
Boyd wants a takedown but no success here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Caisse wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Boyd has him pressed against the cage.
Caisse is pressed up against the cage. Boyd has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Caisse down to the mat. Caisse avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Caisse throws a right and a left that both miss.
A punch combination from Caisse misses.
Caisse tries to clinch but Boyd is having none of it.
Caisse's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Caisse duly obliges.
Boyd shoots in but Caisse avoids the takedown attempt easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Caisse moves in looking to clinch but Boyd pushes him off.
Jean Caisse has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Michel Boyd is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boyd shoots in for a double leg but Caisse sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Caisse lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jean Caisse comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Boyd has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
