Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Mattews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mitch Rapp!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Lou da Vinci and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mattews gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Rapp.
Rapp just misses with a punch to the body.
A swing and a miss from Rapp.
Mattews tries to clinch up.

so Mattews counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rapp keeping moving, preventing Mattews from controlling successfully.
Mattews throwing strikes from guard but Rapp blocks nicely.
Mattews throws a big right hand that misses.
Rapp wants to stand up but Mattews is controlling him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mattews drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rapp manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mattews has Rapp in his guard.

Rapp pushing down on Mattews's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Rapp slows the pace down in half guard.
Mattews is trying to get back to full guard.

Mattews is pressing down on Rapp's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Rapp preventing the sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mattews can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rapp controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mattews is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rapp controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mattews keeping full guard, as Rapp tries to pass.

Rapp's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Mitch Rapp has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Rapp tries to clinch up.
Rapp misses with a looping left.
Rapp has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.

and Mattews holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Rapp is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Rapp's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Mattews fails to pull guard.

Rapp breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rapp throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mattews counters with a two punch combo.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rapp works the jab nicely.


It looks like Matt Mattews has been cut.

Mattews decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mattews throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Rapp to regain full guard.
Mattews trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Mattews chips away with some ground and pound.
Mattews with a flurry of punches that miss.
Mattews in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rapp is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mattews throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Mattews's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Mattews moves out of range as Rapp strikes.
Rapp scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Rapp lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Mattews displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rapp throws out the jab.
Rapp leaves Mattews with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mitch Rapp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mattews fails with an attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Rapp misses the target.
Mitch Rapp seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Rapp slaps away a takedown attempt from Mattews, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mattews drops his hands momentarily and Rapp takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Rapp avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rapp digs a good hook to Mattews's body.
Mitch Rapp is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rapp scores with a nice strike.
Rapp throws a right hand that misses
and Mattews counters with a nice uppercut.
Mattews gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Rapp gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mitch Rapp!
