Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Curtis Noguira! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones misses with a few strikes there.
Noguira shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily. Noguira fails with a takedown attempt. Jones waves his right hand out infront of him, looking to distract Noguira. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Noguira to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Noguira is looking for a triangle but Jones pushes his legs off easily.
Jones stopping the sweep attempt from Noguira. Jones looking to pass the guard. Noguira looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Noguira is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Noguira is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jones not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Noguira trying to control the position.
Jones wants to stand but Noguira is controlling his posture from full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jones tries to clinch but Noguira moves out of range. Jones throws a right and a left that both miss. Jones throws a nice looking combination but Noguira bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Noguira changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Noguira manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. David Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Curtis Noguira. Noguira fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Jones throws a good cross that connects.
Jones cracks Noguira on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Noguira falls backwards against the cage. Jones follows up with more strikes that drop Noguira to his knees. Jones keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Noguira! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Jones!
