Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniels Drinkis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kane Yamada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kane Yamada told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniels Drinkis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
34 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Kane Yamada! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drinkis fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Yamada throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Drinkis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Drinkis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Yamada manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Yamada misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Drinkis.

Drinkis drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Drinkis trying to control the position from guard on top but Yamada is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Drinkis won't allow Yamada to get back to his feet. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Yamada has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Drinkis scores a nice knee to the body.

Drinkis working the ground and pound but Yamada is defending the strikes. Yamada is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Drinkis has just dragged him back down to the mat. Yamada is looking for a sweep. Drinkis lands a decent elbow from side control. Drinkis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Drinkis creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Yamada sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Drinkis trying to control the position but Yamada is working away. Yamada wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Drinkis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Yamada is working to avoid the ground and pound but Drinkis connects with a decent elbow. Yamada is not content to let Drinkis control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Yamada is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Drinkis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yamada keeps working. Drinkis slows the pace down. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Yamada tries to escape but Drinkis is in control. Yamada regains half guard there - taking advantage of Drinkis's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Yamada pushes Drinkis off looking to stand but Drinkis dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Yamada is trying to maintain the position but Drinkis is very close to passing his half guard. Drinkis missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daniels Drinkis dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Yamada tries to work over Drinkis's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Drinkis is rocked! Yamada dips a shoulder and cracks Drinkis with a mighty uppercut! Drinkis falls back against the cage and Yamada unloads with a barrage of strikes! Drinkis is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Yamada screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
