Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Cravez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Cross! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Cravez! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cross misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Cross closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Cross looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cross prevents Cravez from escaping the position. Cross thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Cravez is positioning himself to get back to half guard. A lull in the action here. Cravez can't do much from the bottom here. Cravez regains half guard, as Cross was trying to land strikes.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Cravez keeps the fight on the outside. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Cravez - that will leave a mark!
Cross is breathing heavily. Cross decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Cravez tries to kick Cross off but Cross keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Cravez kicks Cross off and gets back to his feet. Cravez with a lazy takedown attempt and Cross counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cross pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cravez is keeping the position for now. Cravez is trying to control the position but Cross postures up. Cross scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Cross cracks Cravez with a solid left hand. Cross has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Cross won't allow Cravez to get back to his feet. Cravez uses the cage to get back to his feet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Cravez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Cross is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Cravez has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cross off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Mauricio Cravez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cross closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Cravez is trying to stand back up but Cross is controlling him

Cravez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cravez is trying to stand up here but Cross is controlling him well. Cross lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Cravez makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Cravez throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cravez, right into the meat.
