Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nick shannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Fioravanti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). shannon comes to the cage accompanied by yesterdays headlines. Nick shannon has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Chad Campbell and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
shannon throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Fioravanti's head.

shannon scores a takedown into full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

shannon goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Fioravanti turns into him and now he's in shannon's guard.

shannon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fioravanti gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

shannon looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Fioravanti passes into side control.
shannon is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

shannon manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

shannon tries to stand and escape but Fioravanti is controlling the position.
shannon is breathing heavily.
Fioravanti avoiding damage under a succession of punches from shannon.

shannon wants to work for an arm triangle but Fioravanti is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fioravanti tries to roll over but shannon keeps him under control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Fioravanti connects with a crisp jab.

shannon is rocked!

It looks like Nick shannon has been cut.
Fioravanti connects with a stiff jab that staggers shannon - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
