PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chet Linkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson has chosen Diamond as his entrance music. Chet Linkin had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chet Linkin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Victor Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Reed Andrews and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Linkin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Linkin misses with a few strikes there.
Peterson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Linkin scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Linkin punishes Peterson's body with a nice straight punch.
A head kick misses from Linkin.
Linkin throws a sloppy head kick and Peterson moves out of range easily.
Left hook, right uppercut from Linkin.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Linkin tries to break the clinch but Peterson is controlling the position.
Linkin has had enough of the clinch but Peterson keeps him there for the moment.
Linkin gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Linkin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Linkin feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Peterson's calf.
Peterson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Linkin's waist but Linkin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Peterson off to one side.
Linkin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Linkin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Linkin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Linkin throws a half hearted mid kick.
Peterson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Linkin.
Linkin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Peterson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Peterson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Linkin counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Peterson misses with the body kick
and Linkin counters with a three punch combo that has Peterson backing up. Peterson nods at Linkin to acknowledge the strikes.
Linkin uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Peterson has time to react.

Linkin throws a sloppy head kick and Peterson moves out of range easily.
Linkin is looking to land body kicks.

Peterson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Linkin pushes Peterson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Peterson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Peterson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Peterson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Linkin is breathing heavily.
Linkin is not content to let Peterson control the position.

Peterson advances to full mount.
Peterson wants to control but Linkin has made it back to half guard. Nice work.

Peterson seems to be looking for submissions.
Linkin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Peterson on the ground.
Peterson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Linkin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Peterson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Linkin to stand up.
Linkin rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Peterson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Linkin misses with a wild combination.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Linkin, right into the meat.
A cross from Peterson lands.

Peterson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Peterson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Linkin manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Peterson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Linkin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peterson slows the pace down.

Linkin looks to move to half guard but instead Peterson has passed into mount! Damn!
Linkin slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Linkin is looking to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Peterson seems to be working for a kimura but Linkin defends the submission attempt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Linkin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Linkin scoring well with a low kick there.
Linkin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Peterson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Peterson is keen to just control but Linkin is a slippery customer.
Peterson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Linkin is trying to get back to full guard.
Linkin is trying to maintain the position but Peterson is very close to passing his half guard.

Linkin is defending against the submission attempts here by Peterson.
Linkin is refusing to be controlled, as Peterson sits in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Peterson tries to pass to full mount but Linkin defends it.

Peterson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Linkin defends it well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Peterson in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Linkin tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Peterson!
