Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gabriel Hart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sten Sax! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hart scores with a takedown into Sax's guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Hart stays in close to Sax's body and controls the position. Hart passes easily into side control. Nice work. Hart taking a breather here. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sax can do anything to dispel that myth. Sax is pushing Hart's head away, looking to escape. Hart manages to hold on to the position though. Hart controlling the position. We've been hearing good reports from Hart's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Sax wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Hart controlling from side mount. Sax wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hart controls the position. Sax is trying to buck Hart off. Hart controlling from side mount.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Gabriel Hart wasn't doing enough on the ground. Hart throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sax wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Some wild striking there from Sax.
Hart closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sax to the mat! Sax manages to get full guard. Sax keeping full guard, as Hart tries to pass. Hart might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hart advances position into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sax is trying to get back to his feet. Sax looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sax trying to remain calm as Hart controls from the top position. Sax on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Sax is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Hart is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Sax is trying to escape and Hart transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Sax is forced to tap! Nice work there by Hart! Very nice indeed!
