The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferguson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Shen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Shen lands a good knee to the midsection. Ferguson won't want to take too many of those.

Ferguson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shen avoids it really well and circles away.
Shen uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ferguson has time to react.

Nice combo by Shen! Oh, that's hurt him - Ferguson falls to the canvas and Shen follows him into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shen has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Ferguson - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Shen, and another! Ferguson is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!

A relieved looking Wei Shen thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
bj Ferguson spoke after the fight, saying 'ya know man being 32 years old now and having a 23-12 record. i still feel like i have more to give. ill never give up! never surrender! i am the boogieman! and im coming to get yah!'.
