and Newmann counters with a low kick, right behind Lyles 's knee.
Lyles takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Newmann tries to clinch there but Lyles circles away.
Newmann shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jab, jab by Lyles - just one landing.
Newmann has been working on his balance at Atlas Training Center, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Lyles.
Newmann is looking to slow Lyles down with leg kicks.
Newmann tries to clinch but Lyles is having none of it.

Newmann has Lyles pressed against the cage, preventing Lyles from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Lyles tries to break free but Newmann pushes him back against the cage.
Newmann connects with a knee to the head.
