Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Chrismer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bernard Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chrismer comes to the cage accompanied by Nine Inch Nails - "The Day The World Went Away". Matt Chrismer could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Bernard Jones's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bernard Jones!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones looks to land a combination but Chrismer avoids it well.
Jones is looking to score with low kicks.
Jones lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Chrismer backs up against the cage.
Jones darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Chrismer closes the distance and clinches.
Chrismer drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Chrismer keeps control of Jones as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Jones wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Jones is trying to break free.
Jones is trying to break the clinch but Chrismer has him pressed against the cage.
Jones wants to break free but Chrismer has control.
Jones on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Chrismer avoiding damage.
Chrismer lands a nice elbow from the clinch.


It looks like Bernard Jones has been cut.
Chrismer has a couple of punches blocked by Jones.
Jones tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Chrismer just stands there and leans against the cage.
Jones tries to break the clinch but Chrismer is controlling the position.

Chrismer fails with the takedown.

Chrismer tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.

Chrismer moves into range and clinches up with Jones.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Chrismer checks a leg kick.

Chrismer has Jones up against the cage in a clinch.
Chrismer fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Chrismer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Chrismer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bernard Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jones throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jones misses with a series of wild punches.
Horrible takedown by Chrismer or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones which made him look bad.
Chrismer takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Chrismer throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Chrismer on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Jones looks gassed!
Chrismer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Chrismer gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Chrismer tries to land a knee to the head but Jones blocks with his arms.
Chrismer is working for takedown but Jones is calmly controlling the position for now.
Jones wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Chrismer prevents Jones from breaking the clinch.
Jones wants to break free but Chrismer has control.
Chrismer throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Jones blocks it with crossed arms.

Chrismer manages to break the clinch.

Chrismer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Jones struggling a bit here.

Chrismer prevents Jones from escaping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Chrismer tries to stand but Jones is controlling his head.
You can see the frustration on Jones's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones pushes Chrismer away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Chrismer gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jones stuns Chrismer with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Jones misses with a low kick.
Matt Chrismer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice uppercut lands for Jones. That snapped Chrismer's head back.
Chrismer showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones.
Chrismer takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Jones looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Chrismer!

Jones is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jones connects with a crisp jab.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones throws a right and a left that Chrismer avoids nicely.
Jones scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Chrismer doesn't seem bothered though.

Jones throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Chrismer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Chrismer drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones wants to get back to his feet but Chrismer is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Jones wriggles free and stands up.
No joy there for Jones, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Jones misses with a double jab.
Jones misses with a series of wild punches.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Chrismer takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Jones scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Nice cross by Jones.
Jones displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Chrismer throws a right and a left that Jones avoids nicely.

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Chrismer sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Chrismer is trying to control but can't.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jones decides to stand up.
Jones throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Jones fails to land with a series of punches.
Chrismer checks the leg kick.
Jones digs a good body shot into Chrismer's ribs.
A combination from Jones does no damage.
Jones listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Jones connects with a good right hand that stumbles Chrismer. Chrismer circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bernard Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jones lands a two punch combo.
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Chrismer gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Chrismer shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Chrismer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jones moves into range and clinches up with Chrismer.
With the fighters up against the cage, Chrismer throws an elbow but misses.
Jones is trying to break free.
Jones wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Chrismer has him pressed against the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Chrismer drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jones pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jones misses with a series of wild punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jones showed some decent athleticism there.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Jones not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Jones decides to stand up.

Chrismer takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jones throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Jones throws a right and a left that Chrismer avoids nicely.

Jones lands with a straight right. Chrismer didn't see that one coming.

and Chrismer counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jones holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Jones is trying to stand up here but Chrismer is controlling him well.
Chrismer passes the guard and advances to mount!

And that's the end of the fight!
Bernard Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
