The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Andrade with that takedown attempt. Marx misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

John Marx seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Andrade displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Andrade drives through with a takedown into guard. Marx avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Andrade. Marx takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Andrade cracks Marx with a big right hand but Marx just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The ground and pound from Andrade seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Andrade shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Marx throws a combination that misses and Andrade counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Andrade looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Marx is fending him off so far but Andrade persists. Nope, Marx circles away and we're back to standing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. You get the feeling that Marx really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Andrade has control of Marx's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Marx regains control of the situation pretty easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Andrade with good strikes from the mount here! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight stays on the outside here - Andrade looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Marx throws the kick towards the body but Andrade avoids it. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Andrade wants to stand but Marx has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Antonio Andrade. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Andrade, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
