Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Ruben Yvel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Hans Gruber! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Gruber. Yvel throws a head kick but Gruber moves out of range.
Yvel dodges the punch combination from Gruber.
Yvel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gruber. Gruber gets caught napping as Yvel dives in and scores a takedown. Gruber manages to retain guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Yvel controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Gruber is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Yvel postures up.
Gruber wants to sweep here but Yvel controlling him for the moment. Yvel decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Yvel fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Yvel turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yvel uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gruber. Yvel moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Gruber just misses with a punch to the body.
Donk. Gruber catches Yvel right on the button with a cross.
It looks like Ruben Yvel has been cut. Gruber throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Gruber takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Gruber tries to close the distance and clinch but Yvel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Yvel shoots for a double leg takedown but Gruber sprawls well. He's pushed Yvel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Yvel throws a nice outside leg kick. Yvel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ruben Yvel. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Yvel throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Yvel forces Gruber back against the cage and clinches. Yvel is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Gruber throws a punch but it's blocked by Yvel. Gruber is trying to break free.

Yvel shoots for a takedown but Gruber saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Yvel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gruber's waist but Gruber gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Yvel off to one side. Gruber on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Yvel turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Ruben Yvel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gruber throws a one two combo.

Gruber misses with a double jab
and Yvel counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Gruber looks winded! Gruber misses with a jab, cross combination.
Yvel blocks a jab. Yvel displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Gruber on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Yvel. Yvel obviously looking to wear him down.
Yvel shoots for a double leg takedown but Gruber sprawls well. He's pushed Yvel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Yvel ducks under a wild hook from Gruber. Gruber tries to clinch but fails miserably and Yvel counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yvel scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Yvel connects with a solid leg kick. Gruber misses with a low kick. Yvel throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Gruber's head. A head kick from Yvel lands but Gruber takes it in his stride. Yvel fails to land the takedown. Yvel is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gruber sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Yvel darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Yvel controlling the action here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gruber is trying to stand up here but Yvel is controlling him well. Yvel looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ruben Yvel. Yvel darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Gruber tries to get to full guard but Yvel has control of the leg. Yvel slows the pace down in half guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Yvel stands up and beckons Gruber to join him on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gruber misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Yvel moves out of range as Gruber strikes. Gruber tries to clinch but Yvel is having none of it. Yvel fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gruber has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Gruber's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Gruber throws an off balance right hand
and Yvel counters with a solid body kick. Gruber lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Yvel throws a leg kick which misses Gruber's front leg but catches the back leg as Gruber tries to avoid it. Yvel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. A combination from Yvel does no damage. Yvel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yvel engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gruber wants to sweep but no luck. Yvel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Yvel pushes down on Gruber's leg and manages to get into half guard. Yvel performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Gruber is looking to escape. Gruber is breathing heavily. Yvel escapes and gets back to his feet. A slapping body kick lands there for Yvel. Ruben Yvel is winning the standup battle so far. Gruber has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Gruber throws out a loose jab but Yvel uses good head movement to avoid it. Gruber misses with a right hand and Yvel finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Yvel scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! You can see the frustration on Gruber's face as Yvel controls the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Ruben Yvel wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Yvel lands with a slapping head kick. Gruber might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Yvel throws a quick inside leg kick. A jab from Gruber misses. Gruber fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Yvel manages to avoid it. Gruber takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Yvel slips a jab from Gruber. Gruber misses with a hook. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gruber fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Gruber tries to clinch up. Yvel changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gruber looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Yvel decides to stand back up. Yvel steps back and let's Gruber get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yvel thuds his shin into the meat of Gruber's side. A kick lands to the mid section there for Yvel. Yvel shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gruber as he jumps to the side. Yvel shoots in looking for a takedown. Gruber tries to sprawl out of it but Yvel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gruber manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. A big left from Gruber misses. Gruber looks to clinch and Yvel counters with an inside leg kick. A looping hook to the body misses from Gruber. Yvel does a little dance to reset his feet. Yvel moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Yvel moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Gruber throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Gruber throws the left hand but Yvel avoids the punch easily. Yvel dives in for a single leg takedown but Gruber sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ruben Yvel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gruber has had enough of the clinch but Yvel keeps him there for the moment. Gruber has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Yvel. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Yvel on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

It looks like Hans Gruber has been cut. Gruber takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Yvel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Gruber is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Yvel gets to his feet - Gruber follows without any prompting. A head kick from Yvel lands but Gruber takes it in his stride. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Yvel scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Yvel throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yvel fails with a takedown attempt. Yvel keeps the fight on the outside. Yvel forces Gruber back against the cage and clinches. Yvel keeps control of Gruber as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Yvel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yvel throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gruber stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Ruben Yvel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Yvel throws a one two combo.
Yvel shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gruber manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Yvel stands up from guard. Let's bang! Yvel looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Yvel connects with a leg kick. Gruber looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. That kick from Yvel tenderised Gruber's leg. Gruber is trying to keep his angry face on. Yvel scores with a takedown into Gruber's guard. Ruben Yvel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

and Yvel counters with a single leg into guard. Gruber didn't expect that. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Yvel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Yvel is pushing down on Gruber's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gruber is fighting to maintain full guard but Yvel has managed to sneak the leg through. Yvel controlling the pace. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hans Gruber has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ruben Yvel wasn't doing enough on the ground. Yvel lands with a thumping leg kick.
And that's the end of the fight! Ruben Yvel showed his dominance in that final round. Well Yvel has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
