PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Donte Munoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Lane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donte Munoz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacob Lane!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munoz shoots in for a takedown but Lane shows good takedown defense.

Lane takes the fight into the clinch.
Munoz tries to pull guard but Lane holds him up against the cage and eventually Munoz drops back down to his feet.
Lane tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Munoz smiles and moves away.
Lane tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lane keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Donte Munoz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lane drops his hands momentarily and Munoz takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Munoz scores with a shot to the body.
Lane throws a combination that misses

and Munoz counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Lane has picked Munoz up - he's going for a ride! Lane dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Munoz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lane just stands there and leans against the cage.

Lane jumps guard but Munoz turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Lane jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Munoz walks away with a smile on his face. Lane gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lane keeps the fight on the outside.
Munoz misses with a takedown attempt - Lane sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nice takedown defense from Munoz. No joy for Lane on that attempt.
Lane misses the shot to the body.
Lane fails with the takedown.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Munoz manages to break the clinch.
Munoz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lane sprawls well. Lane wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Munoz gets slowly back to his feet.
Lane throws a low kick but Munoz moves out of range easily.
Munoz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lane pinned against the cage. Lane gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Lane shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lane was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lane is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Munoz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Munoz tries to control but Lane manages to take his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lane controlling the position well here. Munoz rolled but Lane kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Munoz fails with the takedown

and Lane counters by clinching up.
Lane stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Munoz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lane avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Munoz lands an elbow that stopped Lane in his tracks for a moment.
Lane tries to pull guard but Munoz forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Lane wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Lane ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lane no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Munoz stops Lane from standing up.

Munoz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Munoz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Donte Munoz just wasn't active enough.
Lane throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Munoz's waist but Munoz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lane off to one side.
Lane dives in and grabs Munoz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Munoz pushes down on Lane's head and hops out.
Donte Munoz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Lane.

Lane shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lane showed some decent athleticism there.
Lane is breathing heavily.

Lane manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Munoz on his heels. He'll look to pass Munoz's guard now, I'm sure.

Both fighters take a look at the clock.

Jacob Lane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


A head kick by Lane misses

and Munoz holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Lane fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Munoz tries for a takedown but Lane manages to get underhooks.
Munoz drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Munoz gets through Lane's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Lane jumps guard and drags Munoz to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lane has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Munoz should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Lane has tightened it up now! Munoz should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
