Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Royce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Dee BJ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jay Dee BJ has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Royce Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Dee BJ! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. BJ tries to avoid it but Gracie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag BJ to the ground. BJ escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that BJ has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. BJ tries to clinch there but Gracie circles away.
Gracie fails to land the takedown. BJ displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gracie. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Royce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gracie stuffs the takedown. Gracie fails with a takedown attempt. BJ fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. BJ clinches up with Gracie and pushes him back against the cage. Gracie wants a takedown but no success here.
BJ ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. BJ no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. BJ keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully. Gracie is really struggling to control BJ but he's trying to hold on to the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie is working BJ over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Gracie preventing the sweep. BJ keeps trying to improve his position. Gracie makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. BJ looking for a sweep. Not yet BJ, not yet. Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but BJ is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. BJ looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Gracie puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Gracie wants to stand up but BJ has a hold of him and won't allow it. BJ wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy and won't allow it. Gracie wants to get back to his feet.
BJ wants to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. BJ is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. BJ landing a few short strikes. BJ tries to get to full guard but Gracie has control of the leg. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if BJ can do anything to dispel that myth. Gracie trying to control the action but BJ is working from the bottom. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. BJ tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control. BJ is staying active underneath Gracie, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. BJ is looking for a sweep. Gracie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. BJ is trying to stand back up but Gracie is controlling him
BJ is pressing down on Gracie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. BJ wants to sweep here but Gracie controlling him for the moment. BJ wants to improve his position but instead Gracie has moved into half guard.
BJ looks winded! BJ is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. BJ is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gracie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gracie's back! BJ lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Gracie is really stuck here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. BJ doesn't have the hooks in and Gracie manages to turn into his guard.
BJ throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Gracie escapes and throws BJ's legs to the side, diving into side control! BJ is looking to regain half guard here but Gracie keeps moving and retains side control. Gracie in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gracie trying to control the position but BJ is working away. BJ is looking for a sweep. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gracie is looking to take a break and control but BJ is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jay Dee BJ will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
BJ tries to clinch but Gracie is having none of it. BJ throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gracie was covering up waiting for the punch and BJ finishes the takedown easily into guard. Gracie looking to control.
BJ is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. BJ trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. BJ trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Gracie working for a triangle but BJ defends it easily.
BJ stands up over Gracie, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. BJ trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. BJ looking to sit in guard and control but Gracie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Gracie won't allow BJ to sweep him here. BJ is looking to sweep but instead, Gracie has passed into half guard.
BJ gets full guard. BJ manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
BJ avoids the attempt from Gracie to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. BJ trying to mount his opponent but Gracie defends it. Gracie is looking for a sweep. BJ is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gracie looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. BJ really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. BJ trying to pass the guard but Gracie defending well. BJ winds up and cracks Gracie with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie is trying to stand back up but BJ is controlling him
Jay Dee BJ has got the better of the ground game so far. Gracie has hold of BJ's hands but BJ slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. BJ is trying to control the action in half guard but Gracie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. BJ slips a nice elbow through Gracie's hands, connecting with Gracie's forehead. Gracie is trying to control but can't.
BJ not doing much here.
BJ moves nicely into side control. Gracie tries to buck BJ off but BJ is having none of it. BJ tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. BJ lands some shots froms side control. BJ tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gracie's legs. Gracie trying to remain calm as BJ controls from the top position. Gracie manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Gracie taking some punishment here, with BJ in his half guard. BJ working over Gracie with some ground and pound. Gracie looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. BJ wants to stand but Gracie has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. BJ is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. BJ seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Dee BJ showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
BJ pushes Gracie up against the cage in a clinch. Gracie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as BJ walks away with a smile on his face. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. BJ misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gracie uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from BJ. Gracie throws a series of punches but BJ avoids them all with ease. A jab from BJ does it's job there. Horrible takedown by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by BJ which made him look bad. BJ fails in his attempt to clinch. Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with BJ, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes BJ against the cage but BJ circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Royce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. BJ throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
BJ tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gracie swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jay Dee BJ seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Both fighters are breathing heavily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gracie swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. BJ clinches with his opponent.

Gracie drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
BJ fails to pull guard.
BJ's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. BJ closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Gracie is looking for a sweep. Gracie gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! BJ sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Gracie is in a horrible position here. BJ smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. BJ can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gracie is looking to escape. BJ lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gracie is looking to get to half guard. BJ lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Gracie hang on? BJ raining down hammerfists from mount. BJ landing shots from mount. BJ scores with a couple of good head shots there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. BJ dominating with strikes here. BJ controlling the pace for now. Gracie is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. BJ controlling his opponent. BJ working away from the top, dropping strikes. Gracie tries to hold on but BJ postures up. Gracie is in a horrible position here. BJ smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
BJ putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Jay Dee BJ is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gracie tries to lock up and control but BJ gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Gracie takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. BJ working away from the top, dropping strikes. Royce Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! BJ lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that's the end of the fight! Jay Dee BJ comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well BJ has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
