Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Israel Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Klychko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good work by Klychko as he checks the leg kick. Klychko moves to clinch but Wood breaks away and Wood moves into the clinch. Klychko tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Wood could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Wood manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Klychko is looking to stand up but Wood won't let him. Wood pushes Klychko off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Wood closes the distance and clinches up with Klychko, looking for a takedown. Wood pushes Klychko against the cage but Klychko circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Wood goes for a double leg but Klychko avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Klychko continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Israel Wood. That's going to take a lot out of him. Klychko misses with a knee to the head. Wood drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Klychko gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wood pulls guard. Klychko wanted to stand there but Wood had control of the position. Wood might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Klychko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wood manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Wood looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Wood throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Wood jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Klychko manages to avoid the submission attempt. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wood sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Klychko is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Klychko is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Wood asserts his dominance and retains side control. Wood decides to stand back up. Klychko tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wood swats him away and circles back towards the center. Wood misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Wood is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Wood decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Klychko defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wood. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wood misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Klychko closes the distance looking to clinch and Wood counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wood looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wood is pulling down on Klychko's head. It's preventing any offense from Klychko, at least for the moment. Klychko is looking to stand up but Wood won't let him.

Klychko got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wood has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Klychko has managed to get both his arms back between Wood's legs - danger averted. Wood is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Klychko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wood. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wood has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Klychko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Klychko wanted to stand there but Wood had control of the position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wood passes Klychko's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
