PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Gore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Joseph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ivan Gore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Joseph!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gore fails to land the takedown.
Gore throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gore tries to clinch up but Joseph circles away and keeps his distance.
Joseph closes the distance but Gore moves to the side
and Gore counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
The fight stays on the outside here - Joseph looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Some wild striking there from Joseph.
Joseph moves out of range of the leg kick from Gore.
Gore misses with a head kick.
Joseph throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gore.

Gore shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gore postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Gore has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gore sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Joseph's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gore prevents Joseph from improving his position.
Joseph keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gore thows a huge punch but Joseph dodges it nicely.

Gore is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Joseph doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gore.

Gore is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Joseph looks like he's trying to stand up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Joseph can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gore is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gore is keen to just control but Joseph is a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Joseph pushes Gore off looking to stand but Gore dives back in and keeps control.
Joseph is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Gore jumps into side control!
Joseph pushes Gore away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gore gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Gore is looking to take a break and control but Joseph is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Joseph looks to move to half guard but instead Gore has passed into mount! Damn!
Gore cracks Joseph with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Joseph is desperately trying to improve his position but Gore has a good base and remains in mount.
Gore thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Gore dominating with strikes here.
Gore working the ground and pound effectively.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gore cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Gore prevents Joseph from getting the reversal.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gore working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gore wants to get back to his feet but Joseph is holding on tight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Gore dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Joseph tries to clinch
and Gore counters with a one-two to the body.
Joseph tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ivan Gore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gore misses with a few strikes there.

Joseph has managed to clinch.
Knees in the clinch landing for Joseph.
Gore goes for a takedown attempt but Joseph pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Joseph tries to clinch but Gore moves out of range.
Joseph tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gore paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ivan Gore is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gore.
Joseph lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gore's sensitive parts.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Joseph closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Joseph content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Joseph gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gore.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Gore. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gore wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Joseph has him pressed against the cage.
Joseph using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Joseph pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Joseph lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Gore crumples to the floor! Joseph milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). John Joseph!
