Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Beckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aloysius Martin Thesz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Beckett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aloysius Martin Thesz!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beckett misses with a low kick as Thesz jumps back.
Beckett looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Beckett throws a head kick but Thesz moves out of range.
Thesz jabs Beckett right on the nose. Beckett blinks but takes it well.
Beckett fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Thesz has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Thesz tries to land a leg kick but Beckett saw it coming and moves away.
Thesz lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Thesz throws a right and a left that Beckett avoids nicely.
Thesz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Beckett is fending him off so far but Thesz persists. Nope, Beckett circles away and we're back to standing.
Thesz throws a looping overhand right but Beckett ducks down to avoid it.
Beckett lands with a good body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thesz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Thesz throws a hook but Beckett blocks it.
Thesz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Beckett but Beckett pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Robert Beckett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aloysius Martin Thesz.
Thesz with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Beckett throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Beckett swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Beckett lands a leg kick that knocks Thesz off balance momentarily.

Thesz moves out of range of the body kick.
Beckett lands with a nice body punch.
Thesz takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Thesz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Thesz misses with a leg kick.
Beckett misses with a body kick.
Beckett throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Thesz counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Thesz lands strikes from half guard.

Beckett is pressing down on Thesz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Thesz forces his way into half guard.

Thesz is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Beckett is trying to get back to full guard.

Thesz is looking to pass Beckett's guard but actually Beckett recovers to full guard.

Thesz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Thesz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Beckett can't keep his opponent in guard - Thesz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Thesz prevents Beckett from improving his position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Thesz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Thesz wants to pass to mount but Beckett is defending the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Robert Beckett will probably get the nod.

Thesz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Robert Beckett is winning the standup battle so far.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Beckett.
Thesz takes a swing at Beckett's ribcage but misses.
A nice leg kick lands there from Beckett.
A low kick from Beckett misses

and Thesz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Beckett's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Thesz stands and throws Beckett's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Beckett tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Thesz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Thesz tries to advance to mount but can't.
Beckett can't do much from the bottom here.
Beckett tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Thesz easily slips into full mount!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Thesz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Thesz lands a big elbow - Beckett is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Beckett is forced to tap out!
