And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Leonard Grumppbell!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Gomes stuffs the takedown attempt from Grumppbell. Grumppbell gets slowly back to his feet.

Grumppbell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gomes to the mat! Gomes manages to get full guard.
Gomes is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Grumppbell loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Grumppbell won't allow Gomes to get back to his feet.

Grumppbell throws an elbow that misses. Gomes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Grumppbell's guard. Nice move by Gomes!
Grumppbell has control of Gomes's left arm, preventing Gomes from doing any damage.

Grumppbell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gomes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Grumppbell pulls Gomes in close to his closed guard and prevents Gomes from doing any damage or advancing position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gomes wants to get up but he can't break Grumppbell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Grumppbell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Grumppbell drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gomes looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gomes looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gomes!

Grumppbell is looking for a triangle here but Gomes uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Leonard Grumppbell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Grumppbell is defended easily by Gomes.
Gomes chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Grumppbell can pounce on him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well Grumppbell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
