PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Felton Potter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Gilbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Frank Gilbert was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Felton Potter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Gilbert!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A leg kick checked by Gilbert.
Gilbert lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Potter circles away quickly and effectively.
Gilbert throws a right and a left that both miss.

Potter moves into the clinch successfully.
Gilbert is trying to break free.
Potter has Gilbert pressed against the cage, preventing Gilbert from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Gilbert is trying to break the clinch but Potter has him pressed against the cage.

Potter's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Potter changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gilbert fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Potter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Potter has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Felton Potter just wasn't active enough.
Potter shoots in looking for a takedown but Gilbert manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Potter's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gilbert misses with a two punch combination.
Gilbert misses with a jab, cross combination.
Potter dodges the punch combination from Gilbert.
Gilbert throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Potter.
Potter scores with the left hand. Gilbert knows he should have avoided that one.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Potter is trying to get an arm triangle but Gilbert is defending well.

Potter working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Potter advances to full mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Potter has taken the fight to the clinch.
Gilbert is trying to force a seperation but Potter has the dominant position.

Gilbert pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Potter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gilbert circles away.
A combination from Gilbert does no damage.

Potter shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Potter showed some decent athleticism there.
Potter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Gilbert won't allow Potter to pass to mount.

Potter is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Gilbert is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Gilbert is in a horrible position here. Potter smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Gilbert is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Gilbert is breathing heavily.

Potter dominating with strikes here.
Potter throwing strikes here but Gilbert is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Potter is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Gilbert is in real trouble.

Potter has his arm under Gilbert's chin here. Game over son! Potter squeezes tightly and Gilbert is forced to tap out!
