Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kurtis Mejia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DImitri Nimitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DImitri Nimitz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kurtis Mejia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, DImitri Nimitz! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nimitz darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Mejia tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nimitz defends well and Mejia ends up having to push Nimitz into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Nimitz gets underhooks to prevent Mejia's takedown attempt.
Nimitz wants to break the clinch but can't.
Nimitz blocks the elbow strike.
Mejia breaks the clinch.
Nimitz tries to close the distance and clinch but Mejia swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nimitz forces Mejia back against the cage and clinches. Nimitz is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Mejia is defending well. Mejia tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurtis Mejia. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nimitz tries to pull guard but Mejia forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Mejia breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mejia shoots in for a takedown but Nimitz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Mejia fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nimitz moves to clinch but Mejia breaks away and Mejia counters with a single leg into guard. Nimitz didn't expect that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nimitz is looking to stand up but Mejia isn't so interested in that idea. Nimitz trying to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mejia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nimitz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Nimitz being controlled here, momentarily. Nimitz pulls Mejia in close to his closed guard and prevents Mejia from doing any damage or advancing position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Mejia keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nimitz has a takedown stuffed. Mejia defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nimitz. Mejia throws a nice looking combination but Nimitz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nimitz with a poor takedown and Mejia counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mejia looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Nimitz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mejia is working away from the top position though. Nimitz looks winded! Mejia is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mejia looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Mejia is looking to take a break and control but Nimitz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mejia slows the pace down in half guard.
We're going to have a standup here because Kurtis Mejia wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Mejia takes a swing at Nimitz's ribcage but misses. Mejia closes the distance and clinches. Mejia tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Nimitz smiles and moves away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nimitz tries to sprawl but Mejia drives through with a takedown into half guard. Mejia wants to stand up but Nimitz is controlling the position.
Nimitz with the active half guard here but Mejia passes nicely into side control. Nimitz is looking for a sweep. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nimitz is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Mejia tries to stand but Nimitz controls the position and pulls Mejia into his guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kurtis Mejia dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Mejia tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Mejia drives through and clinches with Nimitz against the cage.
Mejia escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nimitz shoots for a double leg takedown but Mejia sprawls well. He's pushed Nimitz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nimitz tries to clinch up. Nimitz throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Sloppy strikes from Nimitz. Those never looked like landing. Nimitz instigates a clinch. Nimitz missing with knees to the body.
Nimitz tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mejia's elbow. Mejia can't get the takedown.

Mejia has a couple of punches blocked by Nimitz.

Nimitz tries to clinch but fails miserably and Mejia moves into the clinch. Nimitz wants to get back to striking at distance but Mejia won't allow it.

Mejia pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Mejia changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nimitz tries to avoid it but Mejia manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nimitz to the ground. Nimitz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Nimitz moves out of range of the leg kick from Mejia. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nimitz. Nimitz wants to clinch up but Mejia keeps it at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nimitz tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Mejia counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Nimitz is lucky that one didn't land flush. Nimitz checks the leg kick nicely there.
Mejia throws a series of punches but Nimitz avoids them all with ease. Nimitz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mejia defends it nicely. Kurtis Mejia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DImitri Nimitz. Nimitz is looking to clinch. Nimitz clinches with his opponent.

This has been an exciting period of action! Nimitz trying to stall but Mejia improves his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mejia's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Nimitz avoids the body shot from Mejia.
Nimitz shoots in but Mejia avoids the takedown attempt easily. Nimitz is breathing heavily. Mejia gets the takedown into side control. Nimitz gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Mejia scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Nimitz?
Mejia content just to control the position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mejia lands a couple of good shots and Nimitz has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Nimitz tries to escape but Mejia has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Mejia lands an elbow to the side of the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. I would not like to be Nimitz right now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mejia is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Nimitz has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Mejia is punishing Nimitz with strikes - can he finish him?! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kurtis Mejia dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Mejia moves into the clinch. Nimitz blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Mejia turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! You can see the frustration on Nimitz's face as Mejia controls the position. Mejia working the head and body with strikes. Mejia tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Mejia wants to stand but Nimitz has his arm trapped. Nimitz looks to move to half guard but instead Mejia has passed into mount! Damn! Mejia postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Nimitz looks a forlorn figure.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nimitz regains half guard. Mejia working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Nimitz looks like he's trying to stand up.
Mejia seems to be working for a kimura but Nimitz defends the submission attempt. Mejia tries to stand and escape but Nimitz is controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nimitz has hold of Mejia's hands but Mejia slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Mejia tries to pass the half guard into mount. Nimitz knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Mejia with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Nimitz is staying active underneath Mejia, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Mejia performing his best blanket impression for a moment. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Kurtis Mejia has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Mejia throws the kick towards the body but Nimitz avoids it. Nimitz is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mejia tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nimitz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mejia somewhat. Mejia drives through with a takedown into guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mejia passes Nimitz's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Nimitz misses with some strikes from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mejia trying to control from half guard but Nimitz is working away. Nimitz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mejia's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mejia's back! Nimitz throwing wild punches that miss their target. Nimitz wants to control but Mejia is keeping busy. Nimitz gets his hands free as Mejia looks to control. Mejia rolls, trying to escape but Nimitz keeps control of the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mejia prevents Nimitz from getting a body triangle. Mejia turns into Nimitz and is now in his guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Kurtis Mejia showed his dominance in that final round. Well Mejia has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
