PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Game Over (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben UK (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Game Over!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ben UK!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
UK lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Over circles away quickly and effectively.
Over jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Over avoids the head kick by UK.
Game Over seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

UK gets tackled into the cage by Over. Over maintains the clinch.
Over controlling the action here for a moment.
UK looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Over lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
UK tries to circle away but Over has him pinned against the cage.

Over ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Over no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Over pulls UK in to control the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Game Over.
Over throws a right and a left that UK avoids nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Over keeps the fight on the outside.
UK tries to close the distance and clinch but Over swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Over.
Over definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
No luck for Over with that takedown attempt.

Over has UK up against the cage in a clinch.

Over manages to break the clinch.
UK throws a half hearted mid kick.
Over tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but UK swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Game Over. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Over throws a head kick that misses.

Over shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. UK manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
UK being controlled here, momentarily.

Over stands and steps away. UK gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
UK fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Over pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Over shoots in for a takedown but UK shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Over is defended easily by UK.
Over just misses with a punch to the body.

Over closes the distance and clinches.

Over jumps guard and drags UK to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Over has control of UK's left arm, preventing UK from doing any damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Over instigates a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
UK wants to break the clinch but can't.
UK looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Over's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Over keeps control of UK as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Over pressing his opponent against the cage.
UK has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Game Over dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Over escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Over manages to get an easy takedown there - catching UK on his heels. He'll look to pass UK's guard now, I'm sure.

Over stands up and waves to UK to follow him.
Over throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and UK connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Over moves into the clinch successfully.

UK breaks from the clinch.
Over looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Over shoots in for a takedown but UK shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Over clinches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
UK is trying to break the clinch but Over has him pressed against the cage.
Over scores with an uppercut up the middle.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Over pulls UK into guard.
UK must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

UK wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Over's closed guard. He's half up but Over has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Over pivots and extends the arm, UK falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Over! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Game Over!
