Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sam Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rubiao Macarenco!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macarenco throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thomas's waist but Thomas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Macarenco off to one side.
Thomas closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Macarenco's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Thomas's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Thomas drops back looking for a leg! Macarenco is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Macarenco manages to kick Thomas off! Thomas jumps back into Macarenco's guard.
Thomas is in close to Macarenco's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Macarenco is wriggling around trying to escape.
Thomas looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Thomas turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Thomas manages to end up in side control.
Thomas is working Macarenco over with some ground and pound from side control.

Macarenco has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Thomas is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Macarenco is fighting off a takedown attempt but Thomas is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Macarenco to the mat. Macarenco regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Thomas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Macarenco is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
