Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edgar Hoover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kid Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoover comes to the cage accompanied by Ecstasy of Gold. Joe is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: (Ugly kid joe) Everything about you. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Edgar Hoover!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kid Joe!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoover fails with a takedown attempt.
Joe tries to clinch up but Hoover circles away and keeps his distance.
Joe slaps away a takedown attempt from Hoover, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Joe slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Kid Joe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A solid leg kick lands there for Joe.
Hoover shoots in but Joe avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edgar Hoover. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hoover goes for a double leg but Joe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Joe continues to drive forward.
Joe scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Joe lands with a left to the head.

Hoover has clasped his hands together around Joe's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hoover postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Joe sneaks out the side door and pushes Hoover away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hoover doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Joe holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoover blocking some punches.
Hoover goes for a takedown attempt but Joe pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Joe swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hoover misses with a few strikes there.

Joe gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Joe working aggressively here.

Hoover pulls guard.
Joe wants to control from the top but Hoover keeps moving.
Joe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Joe trying to control the position from guard on top but Hoover is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Joe working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hoover is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hoover is looking to cinch up a triangle. Joe throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hoover's body to avoid the submission. Hoover has instead reached around Joe's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hoover arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Edgar Hoover!
Edgar Hoover was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
