And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dr Disease!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jonathan Paton and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Disease pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Disease tries to keep at a distance but Gray has taken the fight into the clinch.
Disease can't get the takedown.

Disease successfully pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gray pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Disease is keeping the position for now.
Disease controlling Gray's posture.
Gray controls from within his opponent's guard.
Gray has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Gray could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Wesley Gray.
Disease tries to clinch

and Gray counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Disease is squirming around, avoiding Gray's attempts to control the action.
Gray blocks Disease's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Gray wants to get back to his feet but Disease is holding on tight.

Gray lands a couple of good shots and Disease has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
You can see the frustration on Disease's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Disease just trying to survive but Gray is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Disease darts in trying to clinch

and Gray holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Gray works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Gray might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gray wants to control from the top but Disease keeps moving.
Gray slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Disease is trying to keep Gray in close.
Wesley Gray overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gray is fighting to break Disease's control of his arms but Disease is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Disease misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Gray drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Disease tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gray wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Disease tries to bench press Gray off him but Gray keeps the position.
Gray looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Disease is avoiding damage well.
You can see the frustration on Disease's face as Gray controls the position.

Disease is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gray off and has taken his back!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gray wants to control from the top but Disease keeps moving.
Disease has a closed guard, preventing Gray from standing up.

Gray throws a big right hand that misses.
Gray trying to control but Disease is working from the bottom.
Disease working a defensive guard but Gray passes into half guard.
Gray is keen to just control but Disease is a slippery customer.

Gray prevents Disease from improving his position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Wesley Gray just wasn't active enough.
Disease shoots in but Gray avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gray defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Disease.

Gray forces Disease back against the cage and clinches.

Gray pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gray displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Disease.
Wesley Gray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dr Disease.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gray connects with a nice short shot to Disease's temple.

We're going to have a standup here because Wesley Gray wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Gray closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Disease did well to prevent Gray getting side control.
Gray wants to free his trapped foot but Disease is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Gray winds up and cracks Disease with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Gray seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Gray has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Disease defend it? Gray steps over the head and cranks it - Disease is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gray!
