Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rusty Blades (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and joe helton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). helton has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blades feints and as helton raises his hands in defense, Blades changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Blades showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Blades trying to control the position from guard on top but helton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Blades controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
helton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Blades decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on helton, up you get!

Blades drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Blades is trying to control the action in half guard but helton is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Blades seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Blades has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Blades looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks helton with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Blades is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but helton has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The referee is taking a good look at helton as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Blades!

Blades looking to break helton's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. helton remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Blades will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Rusty Blades overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Blades lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Blades.
Blades has the hooks in. helton is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
helton staying busy and making it hard for Blades to control.
You can see the frustration on helton's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
helton covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Blades is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. helton knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften helton for a finish.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Blades is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

helton throws a right and a left that both miss.

Blades moves into range and clinches up with helton.

Blades keeps control of helton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Rusty Blades has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of joe helton.

Blades changes levels and goes for a takedown here. helton fights it off and pushes away nicely.

helton gets caught flat footed, as Blades shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
helton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
helton lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Blades tries to get to full guard but helton has control of the leg.
joe helton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Blades is trying to defend against the ground and pound but helton scores with a couple of nice shots.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Blades, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
